That is wonderful,WF. Really, really like that one! My imagination works in a different way entirely and I just couldn't come up with something like that. Terrific!

Another way of using the Selection tool:
I could have used the freehand selection tool to cut out the Big Issue seller and then paste her on to another photo. Instead, I selected her, reversed the selection by choosing Invert. That isolated her and allowed me to turn the background into a black and white photograph.

So I finish up with a social comment about the hopeful seller in a cold, grey and largely indifferent world.

Using one of Dendro's excellent photos... Copy entire photo, paste to new page. Copy again as a layer, rotate 180 degrees and reverse left to right. Position at base of original, reduce height to give foreshortened look, add wind effect (ripple effect is cr.ap in my opinion) Darken reflection slightly. Merge down.

Love the daisy in the bubble glass ball, Windy. Some time back I described selecting and inverting. You use it with the magic wand if the thing you want is difficult for the wand to select (because it is many coloured perhaps) So instead, you click on the black background with the wand and then go to Selections and click on Invert. If you don't Invert then you get the background selected instead.

I haven't managed to do anything useful with the selct and inverting - in fact I can't get it to do anything at all...... Love the yellow snow title, Windy! In the original photo it was one of those floating polystyrene igloos!

As for the way the winter picture went - good job you said you hadn't a clue how it got like that! I was going to ask! It makes a good picture, though.

I also like the bubble ball with the daisy - that isn't one of mine, is it?

Trouble is that this thread is getting so long now that we can't find anything that was posted just a few weeks back. Shall we start another thread for techniques?

That would give us three -
    1 Source photos, 2 Gallery, 3 Techniques

The Techniques can include pictures with descriptions, the Gallery is just pictures and the Source is the raw material as donated by Dendro and others recenmtly. What do you think?

Definitely an interesting effect on my tree, HB. It was taken at Kew a few years ago, btw.
