Beautiful picture Marge - glad to see you back with us. Your Tarot pack is superb, Wildflower with all the right ingredients and such imaginative designs!

In my Tarot pack, I am trying to update one of the earliest packs - hence the old French names. The problem I now have is getting some images of people like lovers, a magician, justice etc without infringing copyright. Gonna slow me down a bit.

These are just so good [IMG] When you say about copyright H, does that mean any pic or photo you find on the net? I just use what I find [IMG] And where do you get all your pics from WF, cos they are lovely [IMG]

In answer to your question, Marge. Copyright is difficult and if you download a picture from the net then you are technically stealing it. Nine times out of ten you will get away with it.
I assume Nathan has a disclaimer to the effect that he is not responsible for any photos so used on GC.

Some sites like Free-Photo have the agreement of the photographers to allow free use of their photos. Other sites which carry far more than Free-Photo (like Flickr) allow free use of most photos but not all. They sometines require you to email the photographer and ask permission or just say how you intend to use them. In every case, you should credit the photographer or agency as we are doing with Free-Photo.

Scanning in photos and illustrations from books etc is a clear breach of copyright, but unless you intend to publish on a website or elsewhere, then no one is likely to know.

This search engine http://yotophoto.com/ is the best for finding free photos, but bear in mind that some will require you to credit or even contact the photographer.

I have to admit that I favour that approach as I have had photographs published by fee paying customers. I have also had photos pirated and used without credit being given. I always allow private individuals and charities to use my photos for free, but I charge the going rate to book, magazine and calender publishers.

Hope this helps and doesn't scare anyone off

Thanks Hornbeam - all clear now [IMG] So we should credit whoever we got the image from, everytime we use it on here?

Only seven more to go now for the Major Arcana.

They are: Magician, Devil, Star, Moon,
    Sun, Judgement Day, the World.

The challenge is fascinating and demanding, but I'm learning a lot about how to use Paintshop. Also learning a lot about the meanings of the traditional Tarot cards.
