I looked up platanoides back along and it had something to do with acers I think!

Yes - the eye peeking through is brilliant and VERY atmospheric

 

Correct Marge. The Norway Maple, Acer Platanoides 'Crimson King' is the one tree I would love to grow in my garden but at 30 metres high, fully grown, I would have to find just the right spot and I would really be growing it for future gardeners. Maybe one day.
