Two for comments. I have tried to move away from my usual style of cutouts and also away from the drop down menu of special effects. I don't want to get into a rut.

The first is an attempt to show a sugar pink rose that is made of candyfloss or marshmallow.

The second is to show a frosted rose steaming on a pool of hot water

    Do they work?

Love the first one H - it works for me. The second one I think needs a little more steam and the water need to look more like water - as for how - youre on your own ;) :D

Thanks. I will have to figure out how to get the watery effect and reflections are hard. The steam came out too spotty and I just couldn't get what I wanted. It was done with the air brush tool

This attempt is better. We learn by our mistakes step by step.

I like the reflection even if it is more like glass than water. I got it by copying the rose, turning it upside down and pasting it just below. Then I softened and warped it slightly (PaintShop's own ripple effect was dire)

The steam was achieved by using a much bigger air brush at minimum opacity. Third time lucky maybe, but that's for another day.

HB,I do like your rose pictures.I love the way they are tinged with frost. It would be nice to see the last rose slightly higher so that the reflection of the rose is equal to the actual image of the rose.Hope that makes sense.I like all the pictures that everyone else has contributed, though I cannot be critical of them as I cannot do these sort of things myself...

If I haven't said it already,I hope you all have a very 'Happy' and 'Healthy New Year' [IMG]

Well this is as good as I can get it at present. Steep learning curve to clmb. I've probably made the reflection too dark. Oh well [IMG]

For my non talanted two pennyworth I like the second frosted rose a bit better than the first - prolly cos of the reflection. .

Loved the sugar pink candyfloss rose - except for the rather off shape - upper left, which jars for me - spent a few minutes wondering what it was.

I see what you mean about it now being darker HB.Thankyou for trying it out though.Your candyfloss rose reminded me of the Peony Sarah Bernheart[Not sure of the spelling]or some pink double ornamental poppies I have in the garden,in the summer.
