And then once you have got the image as a clean mask ... you can easily and quickly apply it to a variety of backgrounds to suit different moods.

From the sublime to the ridiculous...

Once the new mask is laid on the background, you move and resize it with the the Raster Deform tool. Paste it as a layer (Ctrl L)then clean up the tell-tale edges. Merge down and use the Soften brush to get rid of sharp edges and convey a sense of movement.

Hope I'm not teaching any grandmothers to suck eggs. I'll shut up if you prefer.

Hornbeam ..I am thick and i cant cope with rastors ..vectors and masks.. :D :D but i can still paint horses on without worrying about the white background by just adjusting the paint brush..I am so used to doing it now its easy..

Sure thing WF! It works for you and there are more ways than one of skinning a cat. I can't manage your air brush technique at all -but you get fabulous results with it.

However, I do think that it's worth looking at more of the tools on our software because some techniques won't work for certain pictures. For example - the air brush technique is great for dreamy semi transparernt mystic pictures, but it might not work if you wanted to put a very precise shape like a piece of machinery on another background. A lot depends on what type of picture you want to do.

    I'll shut up now... [IMG]

Hornbeam..A piece of machinery !!I dont think i will be doing that ,.. :D you could get round that as well with the flood fill tool to fill the background in as i have done that loads of times..I will get their eventually as every week i find something new..my pc struggles if it has a lot of commands as i have tried the cutting several times this week and before and a notice keeps coming up..saying their is no memory left..and it just gets slow.. :(
