creosote - best substitue?

    I use Cuprinol Timbercare Black - easier to apply than cuprinol shades and costs less per litre. I often advise clients to use black as an alternative to dark brown/ greens as it makes the boundaries disappear. The shrubs stand out against the black making them appear bolder and the fence when viewed seems to appear as a shadow- hence less obvious. Try it you will not be disappointed.

    While I agree with you, Mark, a lot of gardeners are on a restricted budget which is possibly why they might prefer using a creosote substitute rather than a more expensive but high quality product like a Cuprinol product:D

    Harrys, thanks for that, yes new, no not expensive, local farm suppliers,
    was thinking oil based but neutral in colour
