I have always found John Lear's theories and comments interesting (son of the inventor of the Lear Jet) much has been discussed about his comments, many view him in high regard, and he often comments on some conspiracy sites .... here is a link to some of his comments .... google to find more ... I find it very interesting John Lear - UFOs and Aliens
Well, I remember the FLying Bedstead, Peter. But that was entirely a British invention beginning in 1954 and a technical school of thought of which the Americans never looked at as they were sticking aircraft on the rear ends in VTOL/STOL research. But the Kestrel and the Harrier was the result of the Flying Bedstead research. NASA used a version of the Flying Bedstead much later on, while the French made a real mess of it. But that has little to do with the CIA and any alleged attempts to confuse the Russans, Chinese or anyone they feared. The boys and girls at Foggy Bottom and Langley are not as bright as people think, as a very long list of hilarious and erroneous projects have proved. There is a wealth, yet again, of alleged ex-employees of the CIA who have "confessed" in support of the theories and conspiracies that abound in the US and the Globe. It mostly helps keep the image of the organisation as all seeing, efficient, and invincible, while we all have seen the weaknesses and inability to track down the most wanted people in the World. At Strike Command in the RAF we used to call them Criminals Active International. If you think the CIA is an organisation capable of long term strategic polices and the intelligence to accompany it I assure you they are not. Just a look back to Afghanistan and the CIA Section that was wiped out due to inviting a member of the Taliban into their midst. They are no different from any other SS except for a huge budget, which is now now longer available to them. So do I believe the CIA is capable to generating a UFO belief to use as a smoke screen for their secret weapons and aircraft? No, I'm afraid not:D
ARMANDII ... what are your personal views on John Lear's comments on this link? John Lear - UFOs and Aliens
Armandii - I wasn't suggesting that the flying bedstead was anything to do with the American program other than it was just one of many experiments at the time. I remember it as something that was also very difficult to control. Dim - I have to say I do have a problem with the quote below about John Lear. Since that time, John has learned many incredible and interesting facts about the solar system and planets including the existence of huge structures, arches, bridges and domes on the moon, cities on Mars, huge extraterrestrial ships mining the rings of Saturn, the incredible but secret agenda of Apollo 17, to the huge rectangular opening in the south massif of the Taurus-Littrow Highlands called Nansen. .
