If you are into dancing/performing dogs then Crufts this year should be your 'thing' even the Kennel club has endorsed this circus approach to get bums on seats/viewers.

As I said earlier my Brother in law was taking part in the obedience, some where along the line, probably not at the top level.
He and Harry came second I believe, but I've not worked out quite what the competition was as yet, probably for young dogs or something.

[IMG] ~I just cannot agree that some dogs are meant to look like the way they do at Crufts & allot of dog shows too. The American cocker that won the "Gun Dog Class" couldn't possibly be a gun dog with a coat like that...!!!! Unrealistic.. I have seen working spaniels in the USA & they do not look like that..!! [IMG]

[IMG] Now Terrier, I think Guinness, is in a slightly different league, he isn't all puffed up like the spaniel..!! A nice stance yes from Guinness, he just looks an alert well bred terrier...! ;) :D

Here he is, Derek with Harry, Harry seems to be using an assumed name though.
    They came second
"Kennel club good citizen dog scheme".

Sorry. Never did understand Crufts. But I love collies Pete. Used to have 2 (at the same time) William and Susie. Now have Ed but next door has a collie, Jack, who is great. The only people he doesn't bite are the next door family and me. And on balance I think he prefers me (collies have good taste).

Dont know had me confused, especially the "again" bit :D

    I dont understand crufts either.

As you may know I have a border collie, can be strange dogs, but once you understand them, no problem. [IMG]

Pete I'm sure Derek was well chuffed with Harry at the show I know I would have been.

My Yorkies would never make it as show dogs even in their youth they just loved getting mucky all the time.

In fact the only time they look half way decent is about 15 minutes after having a bath and clip, then it's back to normal rolling about the place and picking things up in their coats but I wouldn't have it any other way! [IMG] Hel.xx.

Hi Guys - We did manage to see some of crufts on the tv this year. The American Cocker who won the gun dog class drove us MAD here!!! It doesn't look anything like a gun dog at all with its poncy skirt!!! (poor dog!!!) We have an English Cocker - and if we were to show her, we would have to spend at least 2 hours a day on her coat!!!! The poor dogs I really feel sorry for are the Poodles.... the indignity of having you butt shaved, poncy pom-poms on your ankles and your "tackle" on show for all to see......... Re Shih Tzu... my Sexy Dumpling..yes he was.. and in demand for a bit after Crufts......I have two of his last litter Boris and Flash 5 years old now, no I do not breed anymore to old...as they live into their teens what happens to them when you snuff it? Think its tragic when old people die and leave a lot of dogs.I did go to Crufts and have a look my friend who was showing picked me up at 4.30am long time since I showed dogs bit outta practice with the early starts glad I wasn't driving A very interesting day. Re the American Cocker doubt if it could do a days work.pretty tho! Its a very absorbing hobby and you get to meet a X section of people do miss it but cannot do the travelling anymore partulaly now I am south. [IMG]

OH didn't do Crufts this year mainly for that reason. First in the ring on the final day is just too much all the way from North Wales and that's before the cost of the entry fee and travel. She took Guinness and one of the male dogs to the Oswestry show today, the dog got best of breed and Guinness was reserve best, so that'll keep her happy for a while [IMG]
