Peaky Blinders is back on Beeb Two and personally one of my favourite things about it is the way that it uses fairly recent music in a period drama.
The first episode closed to one of Radioheads finest tracks...............


Every episode opens with this Nick Cave classic...............


Polly Jane Harvey is another favourite of the series music director and gets several credits.............

Pressure of work has seen me doing some very late nights recently and so the old cd's have been given a dusting off.

Placebo were a magnificent band in the mid to late nineties.................

Nice trip down memory lane @longk Got a soft spot for SP's and got to see Placebo play in Cardiff Uni and used to have this on repeat when I was a teen

Got Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power in the car atm love getting to the last track and 3 minutes in it gets turned right up

 

I saw the Pumpkins live - yowza! Brilliant!
The late nineties were good. JJ72 could have been huge if they hadn't fallen out with their label. I saw them upstairs at the old Zodiac club in Oxford and they got the audience going that much that I thought the floor was going to go through................


Then there was Ash................


Pulp..............


Radiohead were at the peak of their powers..............


And Massive Attack....................

 

Gotta love Pulp @longk , 'Different Class' is an all time favourite of mine

 

I don't know what it is but I could never get myself to like Radiohead apart from the song Creep.

Lucky thing, my sister had the October Swimmer album

Was waiting for Pulp from you..and where's Blur!?

 

Agreed! His 'n Hers was a damned fine album too.............

Another class act...............


The other great band to come out of Oxford in the early nineties was Ride.............
