I kinda struggled with ‘The Wall’ and ‘The Final Cut’. They seemed to me to be nothing more than a platform for Waters to air his angst.

I like certain people in groups, Jon Anderson, hence the link with Vangelis ...

      And Justin Hayward ...

If you’ve not heard it, I’d urge you to have a listen to ‘Days Of Future Passed’, where ‘Tuesday Afternoon’ is taken from. I did actually buy (new) the re-mastered vinyl at a very reasonable price. It sounds superb :)

Probably their best album which I bought on vinyl when it was first released @Freddy. I've not got a deck to play it on now.

I used to have it originally, but don’t know what happened to it. For many years, I didn’t use a turntable, although I did store it in the loft, and forgot about it. Like many I switched to CD’s. I did though keep all my vinyl, even though Aunt Sally wanted me to bung it! Around two years ago I thought I’d treat myself to a new HiFi. There’s a company (‘Inspire’) that specialise in upgrading turntables. So I sent it off to them and had it ‘done’. I also bought a new tonearm to complete the package.
I’ve been disappointed with the sound quality and mix of some remasters, but I have to say that with DOFP, they did a great job. Sounds great on my system :)

I've still got most of my vinyl too and like yourself updated to cd's. Even they are slowly becoming replaced with new technology now but I still don't think they sound as good as vinyl, maybe it's the era you and I were reared in. :) I haven't bought any remasters, I prefer the original sound.

That is lovely @Freddy. As is this ..

I forgot to put this up on my previous posting ...

This was one of the best bands I saw in 1977 in Alabama just before we moved to England ...

We still have boxes of vinyl and lots of CDs but T'other Half now has lots on his phone ... more convenient when we are outside.

Well, I've digitised most of my CDs and have only kept a couple of dozen of them as they are such beautiful objects, same with vinyl. If I had the space I'd have a huge collection of both but I love the fact that my immense music collection can just fit onto one external hard drive. I don't think the love of vinyl is a generational thing at all, it has a certain warmth that no other media can replicate. Even my digitised vinyl files aren't the same because every single play of a record is unique.

@Freddy, I recently bought the remaster of DOFP which imho is better than the others. The only thing I don't like is that at the end it goes straight into the extras which are not of the same quality.

I always feel that albums in their original form have something of a flow to them. I suppose ‘bonus tracks’ are ok for the ‘completionist’, but it kinda spoils the album, for me. You should have bought the vinyl ;)

I consider Nights in White Satin an all time great @Victoria, it also holds a lot of special memories for me. :)

I neither trust or am a lover of technology and wouldn't risk my small collection of albums both vinyl and cd by digitising them....but each to their own. :)

I agree with the 'certain warmth' you speak of Nick and the fact it's making a come back now.

Floyd did some wonderful stuff over the years.
'Comfortably numb' is a favorite, and i still like some of their early tracks like Arnold Lane and Astronomy domine.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love the Floyd, CN is a favourite of mine also. I have quite a few of their albums (vinyls) including ‘The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’ and ‘A Saucerful Full Of Secrets’. More recently I bought ‘The Division Bell’ on double vinyl :)

I love TFC, masterpiece AFAIC and probably their most moving album for me with PATGOD. There are some fantastic tracks on 'The Wall' but I always feel like they tried to stretch 1 album into 2 and some tracks are filler and tedious to sit through. I haven't listened to it all the way through more than a dozen times and I've had it for over a decade, but I often happily sit through the three albums that preceded it, especially 'Animals'. But my favourite stuff is with Syd, there was something wonderfully childlike and playful about the songs the band recorded in those early days! :)

I've always liked the PF Relics album.
Whilst admittedly it's a compilation it was a very good assemblance of their early stuff.
