Manfred Mann got this to number 10 of the top 100 for 1966

This song by The Walker Brothers did better and was No. 6

And the Four Tops did even better by reaching No. 4

And a very undeserved 66th place was this stupid song by Napoleon XIV (Jerry Samuels). Feel free to stop it very quickly :heehee:

Most of you will know the Wurzels' "I've Got a Brand New Combine Harvester"

but you may not have heard the Health and Safety version of the song that they did with Warwick College and the Farm Safety Foundation

@LyndaG I just watched it, very good, I don't think Lady Gaga is ever taken seriously as a singer, beautiful dress she was wearing and a nice touch to have Julie Andrews come on at the end, love Julie Andrews.

You must have been reading my mind Shiney, I was thinking about the Walker Brothers a few days ago. What a wonderful voice Scott Engel has! :)

Hi Val, she did an amazing job and I loved her cut glass English accent! I have to admit I got goose bumps when Julie Andrews came on and gave her a hug :0)

            Now for something completely different!
I went through something of a Goth phase back in the eighties and The Mission were at the forefront of eighties Goth.............

They were a terrific live band!

            Sisters of Mercy..............

The Cure (admittedly this is from the nineties)...............

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds got lumbered with the Goth tag back in the eighties but they were anything but as they had a variety of very diverse styles. Look out for a very "mashed up" Jason Donovan in this video............

            Nick Cave getting ballady..............

Only Nick Cave would write a song about the electric chair and impending execution!

The Nashville Teens (British group :noidea:) reached No. 6 in the hit parade and reached No. 55 in the top 100 of 1964. Ray Phillips (singer) is still with the band.

The Migil 5 (how many of you ever heard of them?) reached No. 10 in the hit parade and No. 90 in the top 100 in the same year with this record.

They were also a British group, from North London, and became the resident band at the Tottenham Royal (one of my old haunts) when the Dave Clark Five left there. Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones) occasional played drums for them.

The song, as a country and western ballad was a hit for a number of different U.S. singers over 10 years before that.

Another group who's name you may not know, but you will probably know the song, is the third British group in this post, and are The Zombies (from St Albans) who reached No.12 in 1964 and No. 99 in the top 100. (youtube say they charted in 1965 but they're wrong.)

They did much better with their records in the U.S. than over here.

I have a pretty huge collection of cover versions on various formats and have been going through them lately.
The song from the Twinings advert..............

A brilliant cover of a Guns 'n Roses classic.............

This is even better than the Elvis Pressley version...............

                Unchained Melody by U2..............

And finally, the theme from M.A.S.H. by the Manics..............

Thought I'd delve into the '80's although it's not my era. :)

                    Echo and the Bunnymen............

                    The Teardrop Explodes.............

Sorry Longk, I'd only heard of the Bunnymen out of the first four and not keen on any. I liked Frankie Goes to Hollywood, they produced some top music and the ultimate being the haunting Power of Love.....great voice! :)
