As an aside, I never liked the 80's, but I've since decided that there was actually some great music during that era. A pity I didn't appreciate it at the time

Other half has just told me that the Magic radio station is playing 80's music at the moment.

Sorry Freddy, he didn't get beyond the first minute. I don't like his music and his voice even less!

There is something in his catalogue for everyone/every mood.

There was so much that I didn't appreciate at the time either.

Ultravox members Billie Currie and Midge Ure were also in The Teardrop Explodes and wrote this..........

Not sure but this is probably my favourite Ultravox track.............

@longk , that Hazel O'Connor tune is something of an anthem
I'm more inclined to the lesser known tunes, something like this...

                    Yeah. :blue thumb:
This is another stone cold classic by her................

That sounds more like John Foxx era Ultravox Even though it is Midge Ure era. Underpass was John Foxx's biggest solo hit (I still have it on vinyl)...........

Excellent :blue thumb:. I like Hazel :)

                      Some more classic oldies

The Temptations No.1 hit in 1965

Ray Charles got a Grammy for this No.1 hit in 1961

And a year earlier, The Shirelles got to No.1 with this hit - although they charted from 1958.

They were, supposedly, the first girl group in the pop world (not counting groups like The Beverley Sisters or the Andrew Sisters) and the first Affro-American girl group.

                      Just a little balance :heehee:

Dion and the Belmonts started their record career in 1957 and charted many times before getting their first No.1 in 1961 with 'Runaround Sue'.

Interestingly, he only got to No.11 in the UK charts with this one but got to No.10 with 'The Wanderer' in the same year and to No.16 in 1976.

He's had scores of hits, both singles and albums, is still performing and released his last album three years ago.

A post I put on another thread brought this to mind.

It was the theme tune to a long running radio series that had 711 episodes between 1946 and 1951 with approx. 15 million listeners. It was replaced by The Archers.

I love this one ... there is a distinct Asian feel to it .. then I found it on YouTube and realised where the soundtrack is from ( ) Subliminal message (Kama sutra sprang to mind) ...
anyway ... I still love it! :) (But it definitely has an "Eastern Promise" sound to the rhythm)
