This is my first time growing Dahlias. One of my favourite colours is yellow. I love sunny hues! The record is just to give a reference for size. hmmm, pretty appropriate song selection? :heehee: DSCN2389.JPG

I'm growing a few for cut flowers on the allotment the same as John, been disappointed in previous years when trying different types for this purpose, often ending up with flowers too top heavy or very short stems.
So gone for the pom pom types this year.
                  Ignore the staking, I know it's pretty awful DSC_0021.JPG DSC_0022.JPG DSC_0024.JPG DSC_0025.JPG

@pete You've done very well this year. I especially love the last one. I remember seeing these beauties in Hever Castle in Kent .. Haven't been there a long time. Such a beautiful place.

They all look spectacular. Look at all of them saying hello with their stunning colours. Sadly we had a little misshap called jack frost this year and the dahlias were late starters :-( they were late to throw eyes so we were late to take cuttings we show them as well :-( not my year I tell you.

Good morning this is special to me as last year I lost all my Dahlias 20 or more to slugs and snails,so this year I was given these 4 plants (left outside my front door)have no idea what variety or name they are,and planted them in a half barrel with a copper strip round the top,and this is the result:smile:

Excellent wiseowl......post a picture when it fully opens; lovely colour :)
yes copper is very effective. Those hostas in pots have copper tape around the rims and, touch wood, untouched by slugs/snails
