It's the breeding season and your thrushes Mrs is probably nesting close by. He sits up there to keep guard and the singing is to let other birds know that it is his territory!
You'll have to wait 'til the breeding seasons over, or chop the trees down!
My husband is serenaded every morning in the bathroom by a thrush on a tree top in my neighbours garden.

 

I would love to be woken again by Birdsong. I , like you would be woken everyday in the ' wee' hours by Thrush , Blackbirds and many others...Now its cars , people off to work slamming their doors etc... So as you can see I have had both ... Give me the natural sounds of a Bird Chorus anyday

 

I'm with Goosegog on this one. Give me songbirds over chavs any day of the week. I should give it a while, Chris. You'll soon sleep through it. I can usually snore my way through my neighbours' full scale drunken domestics these days . If I do wake up, I always feel it is important to remain positive; after all, there is every hope that they may kill each other.

Your bird will probably move on quite soon anyway. Personally I wouldn't get windchimes. That clinky-clinky noise is far more irritating than birdsong, to my way of thinking.

 

How about a toy stuffed cat sitting in the tree or one of those owl shaped bird scarers?

 

How are you getting on?? Have you managed to get a full nights sleep?

Hi Val. Managed to stay asleep until 6 this morning, and it's Sunday. Couldn't get back and dozed until 8 then got up. It might be my imagination but his song seems to be getter a little weaker during the day. However, I'm afraid that Woo is right and he'll go on until July. I suppose the only answer is to go to bed when he does - the Thush not Woo!

Amazingly I've had two Thrush free mornings! I think he may have moved up the lane - sorry to whoever has got him now. His song is lovely ... in the distance!

I must say I laugh every time I read the title of this thread ...

Onto birds now ... after ten years of living here in the back of beyond in the orchards I am still not used to the Dawn Chorus as beautiful as it may be ... by the Chiffchaffs, the Common Waxbills, the Pigeons ... all after the Little Owls have decided to take a nap ...

Due to our climate we have the windows open most of the year .... but what I can say is that I would rather have sleepless nights due to birdsong rather than city sounds any day ... :yess:

PS We also have to cope with barking dogs and roosters echoing in the orchards ....
