I think, Scotkat, that "the answer lies in soil" as Kenneth Williams used to say many years ago on a radio comedy show! As said by Clara Lou:love30::love30: your rose needs a high potash feed just before and during flowering, especially if it's in a container. I'm not too sure that you need to go too big if you're contemplating potting it on, the next size up would do.

As again said by Clara Lou:love30::love30: your compost is probably in need of renewal and your rose would appreciate that. Roses are hungry plants and to get the best out of them, especially those in containers, you need to feed them regularly when they start to grow with a good, all round, preferably soluble, feed. and then when they're just coming into flower substitute the regular all round feed for the high potash one. Look after your roses and they will show their appreciation by giving you the flowers you want:D:thumbsup:

This is what I miss my Dad for he passed away 5yrs ago and he grow many roses in Aberdeen .

And they were so so beautiful but yes they were in the ground.

I would need to may space to pot in ground.

Although I do have a hosta that has got too big and need to be spit or moved so thsi may be a a place for a rose.

Catztail, if you need to drop hints about a nice birthday/Christmas present, I recommend that you instruct your OH to buy you David Austin's wonderful book, 'English Roses'. It's full of gorgeous pictures and has some fascinating information on the history of the garden rose, as well detailed descriptions of his English roses.
