I'm glad the hurricane is over - it fact, what hurricane? It passed over Santa Maria with wind gusts to 190 KPH, but here, 2 islands over to the east, and on the west end of Terceira, puffs of winds and only promises of rain. Low clouds, or is it fog? But the bright side is Eder sdlg 0009/05 opened today:
    Eder 0009-05 (2).JPG
A strange colour than might be copper or orange cream with raspberry eye and picotee edge.
Then next to it, this opened:
Memories of Oz x Ottis Leonard (2).JPG
This is Memories of Oz x Ottis Leonard. 7" diameter, DIP.
In the same section, a long flowering and almost instant reblooming TET:
    Gillian x Mountain Wildflower.JPG
Gillian x Mountain Wildflower. Cream with large purple eye and edge. 6"
A softer TET is Lighthouse Wonderful Gift x Evermore Lights:
Lighthouse Wonderful Gift x Evermore Lights (2).JPG
This is a late season, first time bloomer. I got the seed from Cynthia Tyrrel who has registered several in a series involving "Lighthouse" in the name.
Then the storm didn't destroy this seedling of Wild Horses x Heavy Metal:
Wild Horses x Heavy Metal (2).JPG
I like the lines in the eye, a different type of pattern.
More than I usually post, but there were a lot today.

Glad the storm passed you by Wylie :)
Love the second one :wub2:, assume Memories of Oz is an offspring of Magic of Oz as it has that wonderful green throat, the last ones pretty special too, you've had some lovely ones from the Wild Horses x Heavy Metal cross haven't you, very nice :dbgrtmb:

Memories of Oz is (Magic of Oz x sdlg), but I think this is more like Ottis Leonard who also has a green throat.:)
I did get real lucky with the W.H. x H.M. group. I think that if I ever got burgled, that I would laugh because the real valuables are in the ground outside.

I did have a cross rebloom today that is a spider with the minimum ratio of 4.00:1.
        Cat's Cradle x Candy Cane Dreams (2).JPG
This is Cat's Cradle x Candy Cane Dreams. Not that big - the bottom petal is 6" from the 'Y' on the back to the tip. Great midribs, and nice twisting of the petals, but not a keeper; there isn't a whole lot I could do with it.:dunno:
Another in the Joy of Life sdlg group is this one:
        Joy of Life sdlg.JPG
It is a burnt orange that is so strong that I am afraid it would overpower anything I tried to cross with it.:frown: I am trying to build up flowers I can use, and this is so close to Moses' Fire there is little reason to have it.
        Honky Tonk Blues x Unk.JPG
This is Honky Tonk Blues x Unk, and it has a lot going for it. I like the blue midribs - usually they are white, but set against a purple/red self and bluish band over a green throat means I will keep it.:hapfeet:

I'm keeping the Honky Tonk Blues x Unk. If you look at the other Joy of Life sdlg photos on this thread you will find there are better ones.
Pods that don't have seeds usually shrivel (1 or all sides) or have a hole were a bug got in. Often nice plump pods have only 2 or 3 seeds. If you give a questionable pod a squeeze test before they are ripe, they should be firm. I also check every afternoon to see if any are starting to open so the seeds don't fall out.

One of my best pinks is reblooming:
            Huckleberry Patch.JPG
This is Huckleberry Patch, but unfortunately, it is next to a Dream Legacy sdlg:
            Dream Legacy sdlg.JPG
The lack of a real edge shows up on this. It is a grandson of Royal Braid, and all of the seedlings from this group have taken after it. Nice, but too similar to a dozen others. If it had a proper edge, then I would reconsider its fate - a friends' garden.
I am trying to get a double fan of 'Carol Robinson', an edge-no-eye type, so I e-mailed my favourite dealer and included photos of his seedlings that I have. He remarked on how differently they perform here when compared to his garden in Germany. One that I sent was this:
            Eder 0084-05.JPG
This is at the end of the day, so the orange has faded a little, but it is pinched on the ends and has a red wire edge that he doesn't have. The eye is the same, however. It is a cross of Fooled Me x Edge of Paradise. All the flowers are coming out like this, and it has a bud count of 25.

More to your question; Yesterday I noticed that it looked like one of my pods was going to open - one of the chambers was open about 1mm and there was a seed inside. Today, the seed was gone and the crack was the same size. Must have been a bug.:dunno:
On a brighter note, I harvested today 10 seeds of Dynamic Duo x Free Wheelin'. The pollen came from anthers I had collected and frozen 5 days before I used it. I wanted to try for a double of Free Wheelin', but it is pod infertile. Otherwise I would have gone the other way. I also put into my refrigerator 34 seeds from 1 pod :wow: of the cross (Unk x Smoke Scream): 100_4322.JPG
and for pollen, (Summer Star x Heavenly Curl):
              Summer Star x Heavenly Curls.JPG
These are photos of the actual flowers used.

Summer Star x Heavenly Curl is 7". These are photos I took on Jun 26 - the actual flowers used! The reason I use "Unk" so much is I won a seed auction at the Lily Auction website for 143 seeds. It was called '16 Unwed Mothers and a Dad'. The Unk x Smoke Scream here was the 'Dad'. Some were only 1 or 2 seeds, others had 20 seeds in the packet. The next time you look up several on Tinker's, notice how many times you see Unknown or Sdlg in the parentage section.
Most of the spiders I see available are not anything I like, so I have only a few. I hope to get a flower next year on 'Dancing Chevrons', and you saw 'Free Wheelin'', but most of my large ones are cascade types.

Couldn't get a drop of rain when the hurricane was only about 50 miles away, but now it is drizzling all day long. But it hasn't stopped my very favourite seedling from reblooming:
                  Amethyst Reflections x Unk.JPG
This is Amethyst Reflections x Unk. You need to see it from the side and face-on to see how the petals curl, and that it is a double.
                  Amethyst Reflections x Unk (2).JPG
Since this is a rebloom, it will be closer to how it will perform next year, so I took some measurements. It is 1" x 4" on the lower petal, giving it a spider ratio of 4.00:1. It is 7" across in the center. I might also add that the background is my neighbors garage. He ran out of money before he could fine cement the wall, but as it protects everything in this section from the winds out of the east, I will live with it.
Not only is this seedling open, but one of its siblings has 2 flowers as well:
                  Amethyst Reflections x Unk-4-1 (2).JPG
                  And from another angle;
                  Amethyst Reflections x Unk-4-1.JPG
The bottom one is .75" x 4" (Spider ratio of 5.33:1) and 6.5" across. This group has been used the most by me to make crosses with my TETs, including Eight Miles High. And if it would stop with the annoying misty rain, I could make a few more crosses.

:wow::wow: I remember this double spider Wylie, on my favourites on the other site, it does look even better(if thats possible ) than the first time round.
I bought 'Heavenly Curls' last spring have had a couple of flowers this year, really unusual though the buds looked all twisted and didn't think they'd open properly but they did, very nice, flowers were a bit marked with the rain though so didn't get a picture, sure they'll be much better next year when its settled in, more creamy white than your cross but the flowers looked the same otherwise.
"16 unwed mothers and a dad", great way of putting it :loll:
