Daylily "Hemerocallis 2013 S W S

All stunning as usual Wylie the cascade types are lovely aren't they remember when my first flowered for the first time 'Judge Roy Bean' .
Hoping for flowers on my 'Frilly Bliss' this year bought it from Pollie last spring, fingers crossed

It has been taking about an hour to go out, see what is open, take photos, and make crosses (I am up to tag # 85). This year I seem to be concentrating on using my Amethyst Reflections sdlgs and the applique throated sdlgs. The hardest ones to photograph are the dark reds.

This is Dakar x Open My Eyes, and really is almost black.
Tang is a DIP that is described as being oxblood red, but comes out black:

Another dark red is American Revolution x Picket Fences:

I like the shape of this one; it is 6" across with 4:1 spider ratio
Equally hard to photograph are the very bright reds. Here is Insider Trading x Cerulean Warbler:

Only 4.5" across, it is very hard to miss. It does have a little competition from the 7" Pearl Harbor x August Frost:

 

I really struggle to get a good photo of Better Lucky Than Good x Facepaint, but today I got one that really comes close to how bright it is and the contrasting eyezone:

I have tried crossing this with my Amethyst Reflections x Unk, and it looks like I will have seed for next year.
One of my named daylilies opened today, Foolish Dragon:

I crossed this with one of the Eder seedlings I have. They both have Fooled Me as a common parent, which can give a very nice eye.
This is Better Lucky Than Good x Hippie Crash Pad. Bright orange with a bright red eye and strong green throat. Interesting with the petals curved back.

 

Wow Wylie the Better Lucky than Good cross is stunning what a colour!!!!! off to get my sunglasses , the eye pattern on its lovely too , brightened a horrid rainy day.

I have one of my very, very best named varieties going strong, Squirrel Beater.

The purple makes me think of blueberry chiffon pie and my mouth waters. But I cann't imagine daylilies tasting like that.
I did have Lip Smack open for the first time (it was a bonus plant last year):

I crossed it to my very fertile Joy of Life sdlg that is a double. This is a TET and isin the same area as another double which is a DIP:

Country Pride x Small Gesture. It is just over 3". Of 4 seedlings of this cross, this has been the only double, and since I really like the doubles (there are lots and lots for next year), I have put this on the keep list.

Laughing Clown x Starman's Quest. Another small (4") DIP, but has that colour I associate with Trahlyta, and a great eye.

 

It took a while, but I am finally up to date on uploading photos to my Flickr account. Today is another day of fog and mist in the morning, so I couldn't make any crosses. But the flowers have kept coming.

Sybil's Blues x Rainbows In Heaven. Cream with several bands of colour in the eyezone and a yellow to green throat.

This is Geneva Top Notch, a 6" TET that when it first started flowering didn't have its notch. Great banding in the eye.

Moon Witch x Hoodwinked. These are only 4" across.

Fortunately there is limit that the AHS puts on the length of a name. This one is Raspberry Banana Cheesecake x Teddy Bear's Picnic. It is a dark purple with black eye and whiskered throat. 6" across, it looks much better than the photo shows.

Pouring with rain here started about 1.30 pm but managed to do quite a lot I think a BH thing for it to rain in the UK , lots of plants with scapes on now but still at least two weeks before I see a flower maybe longer, all the seeds are doing really well plus my own crosses I have a least 6 of each.

As usual your plants look great Wylie , RB Cheese cake x TBP , reminds me of " Pardon Me"

Oh Squirrel Beater's fabulous haven't seen one with quite that colouring, love all todays I'm a sucker for the patterned eyes and banding, Geneva Top Notch is amazing!!!!!!
Still only 4 or 5 showing any sign of scapes here looking back I remember having my first ones flowering 5th June last year no chance of that this year.

 

No rain here Spruce and its still sunny, I've got loads done today, cabbages sprouts etc planted on allotment and done lots of planting out in the garden too, forecast rain here tomorrow so it'll water everything in well.

Finally some sun, so maybe tomorrow will have a lot of flowers. Of course it will be tough to compete with today's lot...First up is The Butler Did It x Affirmative:

This is a relief sculpted type - pleats radiating out from the throat.
In the large catagory is College Colors x Bali Watercolor:

This is a pinched crispate type, and is 8" across.
For a great edge, there is this sdlg x Spacecoast Starburst:

And if you want an odd color, there is Navajo Princess x Unk:

It is somewhere between copper and brown, set off with a green throat and red halo.
If I had been asked at the beginning of the year how many Amethyst Reflections x Unk seedlings were cream-colored, I would have said only 1. But since then, 2 sdlgs that didn't flower last year have finally opened, and they are cream. Here is todays FFO:

I had had such great results last year with this cross that I kept all seedlings whether they had flowered or not, and here is the reward.

I do love the eyes Spruce but must say the last Amethyst Reflection cross is stunning, you haven't had a bad plant from that cross have you Wylie

 

I was really, really lucky with the Amethyst Reflection cross, and I am amazed at the variety in the group. I have a couple pods getting big where A.R. was used as pollen parent, and the applique eye seedlings as pod parents. A.R. 1 has had 2 scapes already, and has started to put up another, so the rebloom time is very short.
