I'm new on here so give me some time to get my head round it all. Some stunning pictures above and looking forward to seeing more in the coming months. I noticed yesterday that one of my crosses from last years list (Brer Rabbits Baby x Dena Marie) had a scape. This is truly exciting for me as I only sowed the seeds last year. Will let you know how I get on.

      Hi Rolle
You will be made very welcome on here another Hemeroholic :dancy: I made some crosses last year so all new to me but hopefully may flower next year, I bought myself some tags and have found them really useful , please let us know what varieties you have and we would love to see some photos (on this thread) so a album on here is a "must do" as well.
What part of the Country are you in ? if you dont mind me being nosey .

I am in the middle of charging up the batteries for the camera as "Creature of the Night " has flowered my first daylily to flower this year so I will post later , well actually yesterday  but another bud has opened today

You will find out (hopefully next year) that you cann't keep everything, and some look like another one that performs better or has more flowers. I am conflicted over the Calico Jack sdlg I posted mid-page 9. I really like the strong red, and I have 3 crosses going on with it, but it is also too much like others I've seen. I have tried using Spc Sea Shells on it because it would look really good with a strong throat.
I gave a bunch of plants to my neighbour 2 days ago - making room for the plants that are on their way from Sheila!

Rolliekins yaay:hapydancsmil: great to see you posting, I checked mine this morning after you telling me you had a scape on one of your seedlings I haven't got any on mine :cry3:
Crikey Spruce none of mine'll be flowering for at least a couple of weeks, can't wait to see your 'Creature of the Night' ;), 'Spacecoast Behavior Pattern' has 3 scapes :dancy: sure they weren't there yesterday .
I'll try to be brutal next year Wylie  I may need counciling after though, I could maybe give some to my neighbour :ideaIPB:, you got some lovely ones from Sheila, I remember, some that were on my wishlist :dbgrtmb: can't wait to see them flower.

I'm in Edenbridge on the Kent/Surrey border and at last it seems to be warming up. Scapes coming thick and fast now so I don't suppose it'll be long before I get some flowers. As for the hemlets from seed last year, Wylie, I know it's going to be tough and like Simbad I will need a good talking to to get me to compost them.

my " Creature of the night" the new flower looks better than yesterdays so if good enough I will take another photo ,

simbad I love the mid rib the best , mine are really sending up scapes now another week and I think "Octopus Hugs" will be in flower as well.

                            I got lucky today:
                            Purple Maze x Infinity & Beyond.JPG
This is Purple Maze x Infinity and Beyond. It is 6" across, TET. I dabbed it withpollen from Spacecoast Sea Shells, so hopefully it will take, but these one-offs are hard to set seed with in either direction.
I have a good expample today of who stays and goes. Here is Sybil's Blues x Rainbows In Heaven:
                            Sybil's Blues x Rainbows In Heaven.JPG
Nice, but if one of its siblings wasn't also open ...
                            Sybil's Blues x Rainbows In Heaven (2).JPG
Much better. If the first one goes to a neighbour, at least I can see it once in a while.
                            Lexington Avenue.JPG
Lexington Avenue. This is one of my best reds, it has a pink halo and is between 6 - 7" across.
                            Last Frontier.JPG
Last Frontier. My least favourite named variety. Every time it has flowered it has those unsightly blotches. This is one of those people who sell plants save to use as bonus plants - it looks better on Tinkers than it does in real life.

Similar to Creature Of the Night is my Old Termite x Emerald Starburst:
                              100_6778.JPG
It has the same strange purple colour that is also found in Trahlyta. Smaller (at 6") and round form, but also a DIP.
I tried to pick something to cross it with, and finally settled on Sdlg x Lillian's Crazy Arms:

It always comes back to the same questions; can this be improved?, what do I have that can do that?, and Is it something I would want to try?
Wild Horses x Heavy Metal is Looking better than ever:

I am having more sucess with seed setting by using this group as pollen parents. There are about 20 pods developing having used the various plants from this cross that I have.
And just to be pretty, here is Carpathian Cavalier:
                              Carpathian Cavalier.JPG
A small but very hard working DIP.
