You have beaten me, no blooms yet, looks like Dixie Highway will be first, followed by Wind Master. Camera is at the ready.

I can do that Wylie :dbgrtmb: any later and I think the hoverflies will have taken all the pollen the daylily bed is usually swarming with them :hate-shocked:

First, nothing rubbish about String Bikini - good photo. 2nd, there is a trick I like to use sometimes to help pollenation: I take a small piece of aluminium foil and wrap it around a bamboo skewer. Twist the end, and then slide it over the pistil. This keeps other pollenators away, and provides a little extra warmth at the beginning of the season or on cool days to help set seed.

I had a new one (from Pollie this year) open today:
                Etched Eyes (2).JPG
                This is Etched Eyes.
Right next to it is Star of India:

This is also new this year.
Then, if you are a fan of edge-no-eye there is Raspberry Rouge:

I love all todays Wylie 'Etched Eyes' is one I've had my eye on for ages must get a list for Pollies done for autumn.
Well thought with the daylilies being late the dreaded gall midge may have been avoided no such luck, 'Edge of Darkness' is covered in mutant buds yet again, good job it reblooms or it'd be out :gaah:
On a brighter note I have a scape on one of last years seedlings :dancy:, 'Seneca Rose'x 'Evening Eye Shadow'

Now that I have both Etched Eyes and Lunacy, here is a photo of Lunacy to compare to Etched Eyes:
                    Lunacy.JPG
They end up being close, with EE being about an inch larger, but Lunacy having the better eye.

I had a real suprise today:
                      Lava Spike.JPG
This is Lava Spike. It was a bonus plant last year, and I really wasn't too thrilled about it because northern types do best where it gets very frosty - the reason dormant types are dormant. The chill lets them develop, and teeth is one of those things that aren't supposed to cross regions easily. So I am suprised at the teeth.
Another of the Raspberry Banana Cheesecake x Teddy Bear's Picnic seedlings opened, and while it is not as dark, it does have a very nice white edge:

Ha! At last :dancy: My main clump have now begun their glorious flowering season and so I can post a picture and request, politely: anyone know what variety this might be?

First the flower and then the clump :snork:

It does die back fully over winter, leaving a bare patch of soil. The flower stalk is more like 4ft though. (I'm rubbish at guestimating sizes, but, put it this way, I'm 5'2 (and a HALF!) and the flower reaches my collar bone.
