Spruce: I read where the most common parent (it even beats Fairy Tale Pink which has 248 children) is "Unknown".:heehee: But I don't knock because my favourite, No.1 group of seedlings is Amethyst Reflections x Unknown. I talked with the man who sold me the seeds, and he has no idea who the pollen parent was. The good news is that he cann't try to duplicate it.

Just caught up, some tempting ones as usual , love "grandma kissed me" is this one of pollies ?

I have quite a few I bought last year from Liloon on here, so still have time for some new ones to flower the best one this year for flower power and has been flowering for weeks is "Octopus Hugs" which I have used as a cross on a few I will have a nose about tomorrow and right down what has set seed and do a list (feed back appreciated let me know what you think Wylie)

all looking fab, just wish I had more space.

All the seedlings are really doing well

First; Spruce: I recommend you go to www.mydayliles.com click on Articles and read Premeditated Hybridizing Parts 1 & 2. It's by Mickey Morry (he has 11 pages of registered daylilies on the AHS site). There are several other useful articles. Be patient with the site, I find it to be very slow.
I had a new flower today! I got this from Sheila last fall, and earlier this year, my cats were out in front running around, and broke the scape. This isn't listed as reblooming, so major tragedy. But it put up another scape :dancy: and today it opened for the first time. But not only did it open, but it opened as one of my mutants:biggrin:. So here is Don Herrell, a 5" TET
        Don Herrell (2).JPG
Finally acting right is Dynamic Duo. 7" Evergreen. This is by Kinnebrew - the same one who does the Spacecoast series. I also took a cue from Simbad when I took the photo:heehee:
        Dynamic Duo.JPG
I cann't get enough of Core Values. I have noticed that patterned daylilies make small changes from flower to flower, so it was looking like this today:
        Core Values.JPG
And if that wasn't enough, Purple Maze x Infinity and Beyond was open:
        Purple Maze x Infinity & Beyond.JPG
And right next to it is Sybil's Blues x Rainbows In Heaven, looking better than ever:
        Sybil\'s Blues x Rainbows In Heaven (2).JPG
What can I do with these, they are so fantastic. Another one of Amethyst Island was open, so I grabbed the pollen from a different Amethyst Reflections sdlg than yesterday; and I tried crossing A.I. to the Signature Truffle x Abilene Lillian double that is also open. I did cross Don Herrell to a Joy of Life sdlg (double) that is very, very fertile.

Crikey I've missed so many pictures in just a day!!!!!, haven't been able to get on the site since yesterday lunch time but its fine now :-)
Spruce I remember your first unknown from last year its really annoying me I can't remember the name, think you got it from ebay cos I wanted it to :heehee:, the second unknown 'Star of Fantasy' ?
Love 'Gamma Quadrant' and can see why 'Gold Elephant's your favourite:biggrin:, its always the good ones that are slow to increase isn't it, 'Grandma Kissed Me' is another of those, flowers its sock of on one fan!!!!!, it is one of Pollies yes, a beauty thought you may like that one you like the bright colours I've noticed ;).
Its nice to know 'Octopus Hugs' is a good one I have some crosses of that from last year crossed with 'Helix' looking at the size of them maybe flowers next year :).
Well Wylie I can't pick a favourite from today they're all :wow:, I'm off to look at that article in a minute to :dbgrtmb:.

That really is nice :goodpost: I like the rain at night, but it can really ruin the less colour-fast flowers.

                      Hi

I was deadheading and took of a big clump of fresh buds not open :hate-shocked: so scissors or just snap them off ??
you have to be careful of some of the dark ones as the stain and the weight of some off the old flower heads is quite impressive

Make a fresh cut and put it in water in a very sunny or outdoor place. My cats are always getting carried away, so I have a vase ready for them out front.

I let them dry for a day or two, then they come off easily, unless they drape over one that is about to open.
