@clueless1 I moved house 3 years ago and haven't regretted it. I live in Dordogne, France, been here since 1985. We bought a huge old farmhouse in the middle of a forest, that needed renovation, but we were much younger and had 4 children. Years later husband died, heart attack, children left home and I was left in a house too big for me and too expensive to run. I had loved it but enough was enough. Problem was that under French law my children all inherited shares of the house and didn't want to sell it. It had lots of happy memories. Then they all married and bought their own houses.

3 years ago I sold the house, the children were all glad of the money. I bought a much smaller house 5 minutes from a French market town. The move was a nightmare, Covid, downsizing so too much stuff even though the children took quite a bit. The removal men were an unfriendly bunch. The sale was stressful. But I did it! I love my new home, so much more convenient and easy to clean, much cheaper to run. There was a large patch of grass which I have been making into a garden. I've really enjoyed digging beds and planting them. I met a new man 12 years ago who lives in Norfolk so I have the best of both worlds.

@Busy-Lizzie the question was asked 12 years ago and before you the last response was 12 years ago.
I'm glad you are happy in your new home though.

You are where you are in your head, not where you live.... But a good garden aspect will help!
