Discussion Thread for Creative Photo Comp February.

rosa I think all the discussion has muddied the purpose of the new rules and second competition.

As I saw it...

Comp one - tidying up of the rules to make simple and fair for all point and shoot submissions, with the permission to border, crop, resize and name.

There was talk of a creative photo/art comp in the same breath as discussion of 'post picture processing', ie software manipulation of a single image, and how this could be accomodated if not in comp one. Hence comp 2 was created. I don't know why it has the name 'Creative photo', and I can only assume it was a response to pressure and trying to please.

'If members feel the need to have a further comp to take us further into creative 'art', it only takes a post in the member requests

As a final comment before I bog off and do something else, I would like to say that in my experience, the greatest creativity is often inspired by the greatest of constraints.

 

I was disappointed with the restrictions made for the Creative photo comp - I thought it would be great to have a free rein. I am guilty of not pm'ing my views to the moderators but feel that maybe the rules can be reviewed for next month. I enjoy doing what I do, and I know it falls far short of excellence, thats why I like to get peoples views on my pics cos it helps to improve my techniques. I am competitive too and would like to put my pics in a comp but most of them would not be within the rules :( But thats another challenge isnt it?

 

Marge, as I said to rosa, I think all the discussion has muddied the purpose of the new rules and second competition. As confussing as it might be 'creative art' is a different competition again. You simply can't compare some of the weird and wonderful stuff in creative art with a photo that has been fixed for contrast or operator error

Marley,would it be a good idea to move the question posts onto this thread as it is distracting when I want to have a look at the February photos entered,but have to scroll past the questions put by members,and then you having to add your bit?...Thanks :D :D

It looks like everyone is happy with the rules now if you haven't had anyone send you any suggestions by PM....
I don't think you will ever please everyone all of the time.I think there will always be people that will question any rules that are put up,because that is their nature...

All I want is a friendly competiton where I can get insperation from the photos put up by individuals with all types of photographic skills.Don't forget everyone, Marley was asked to take over the running of the monthly photo competition by Nathan as he has a lot of other things to do...It is about time she was given the respect and support she deserves...

As Marley as already pointed out She was asked by Nathan to take over the running of the competition,and the rules were probably the same rules that were in place when Nathan first put up the rules but has tweaked them to try and fit in everyones requirements...

As it has been said before on here,if individuals are not happy with the rules,then they won't want to enter the competition.It will only grind to a halt if people keep having to drag up the same old arguements..No wonder people feel like they don't want to be part of this forum anymore...

If members want to have a whinge then surely they can do it amongst themselves by PM or email.I though the idea of this thread was for members to talk and disscuss the photos that have already been entered not what and who made rules...Please give Marley some space...

It doesn't look that good for anyone else who wants to join in and put up photo's.This is only my second month on entering photo's but never imagined it would come to this....

 

Perhaps the Creative Computer Art Competiton could be put under another section to the Monthly photo Competition,then there will be no getting mixed up as it seems to be at the moment ...

 

There is a very well supported Computer Art thread in the Hobbies section and it has been running for quite a while with a vast variety of photo/graphics techniques being deployed. Would this not be a more logical place for a Creative Art competition? It could become a bit confusing here with three monthly competitions on the go!
