Jack, i have entered a few times and I know nothing about photography :rolleyespink: I just point and press click. :dbgrtmb:

Go for it, I really enjoy the photo competitions each month! And I vote based on what I like which is usually all of them so it's quite hard to choose!

    Kate :)

I kinda felt the same way at one point Jack. Some of the photos are amazing. It's the taking part that counts though...although I have yet to enter a photo lol :D

Hi marley, forgive my ignorance but I always had assumed you were male :o
      And a bob marley fan....

I just use "Dave's hang on the wall criterea" to judge the photos :D

If they look good and match the stated theme/s that's good enough for me. A 'good' photo will have 'technical merit' but a photo with 'technical merit' may not always be a good photo in so far as the competition/s go.

Bottom line is - you don't have to be an experienced or skilled tog to appreciate a good photo so get on in there and vote :dbgrtmb:

I thought as per the rules you had to leave the date stamp

I thought as per the rules you had to leave the date stamp and photo details

I was going to have a go first time this month OCT and two do not comply and the rest have very expensive cameras

Whilst I realise, that it is NOT the camera but the thing 12" behind the camera that makes the shot Find that my Kodak Brownie 127 After devoloping printing and then scanned by my friend put on my memory stick , then on my comp to post on here stands no chance other than embarassment

Oh well I may have a go, someone may sympathise, but it will be later in the month because
          A. I have to think hard for a subject (I know it is given but it is thinking what to take)
          B. Getting it devoloped and put on a memory stick
          C. Not very good at composition or taking photos, people and flowers tend to have their heads cut off :-)

I take it you're kidding regarding the Brownie 127 Jack as if you are still using one rather than taking the digital route it's probably much more expensive. Having said that I won my first photographic prize 50 years ago with a photo from a 127 and even by today's standards it would still rate as a good photo.
I wouldn't worry too much about 'date stamps', some cameras/software do it, others don't. The rule was imposed due to a very few contributors who didn't observe the 'current month' criterion.

I can't see anything about date stamps? I think my camera does some but haven't a clue how. My pics are all current. :)

Jack. I think my camera was £100 a few years back (birthday present in less financially grim times!) and I just point and click at whatever I see in my own garden. I don't have a fancy picture editing softwear either so the things I can do to enhance my photos are limited. I think some folk do have very fancy cameras but I can't tell to be honest! I do notice when I see some nifty enhancing going on. I keep meaning to try gimp which I know is free to download.

I've a few photo's I fancied adding to this months comp, but before I post them..here's a little info.

One is an multi shot combined, an exposure of an hour or more, is this allowed under current rules?

Another is HDR, is that allowed?

          Steve...:)

Should be OK in the 'enhanced' section Steve, though I suppose the multi shot doesn't fit the single image rule. When I've submitted HDRs I've limited them to pseudo HDR (one shot copied with exposure adjusted +/-) rather than three separate bracketed shots.

It's maybe time to think about a revision of the rules.

I submitted one a couple of days ago in the enhanced section and then realised I'd taken it on 27th Nov and not in December
