It's a good job I had planned to start again. Just been out to have a look. I'm livid. The cowboys that massacred next doors tree have made a right mess of my garden. There are broken shrubs, herbaceous perrenials that were just coming back, flattened under twigs from the tree murder. My stack of plastic buckets is smashed, and there's mess everywhere.

Its a bit of a perfect storm that has caused my issue to be honest - firstly cash-flow problems which has meant a lack of funds for compost to get stuff sown and brought on, the weather remaining chilly a lot longer than I expected also slowed me down at sowing stage, and then more latterly commitments at work that are ensuring that I am spending more time there than I do at home.....

I decided it was best to chuck the towel in at this stage and keep everything really simple and straight forward - no pots, baskets or otherwise, instead of continuing to throw time (and potentially money once it starts to flow again in a few weeks time) at things only to end up disappointed anyway.

Since we moved in here, the patio has resembled the Himalayas, so I think it best to put my energy into getting it levelled, cleaned and grouted through the course of this summer, and then try again with plants etc next year.
