I'm more excited about getting my veg garden off the ground, but I might well try knitting something if I can find someone can start me off. I'm awful with written instructions but once I'm shown, I can do the business.

Best of luck with your veg garden anyway and hope someone can show you how to knit.I am sure you would be able to follow written instructions.

Skotcat..That original pattern you put up of your mums is now trendy again..it looks good..I am sure you can get cheap wool at the moment i am crocheting a blanket for my grandson and the chunky wool i am buying is only 99p a ball..i am not sure how many balls you would need as i am not that good..I can only crochet blankets ..cusion covers and i did make my mother a jumper once...but i am self taught so i dont really have great skill..I dont think making that waistcoat would be that difficult..Their are lots of patterns online as i looked once..perhaps you should start off with something simple and work towards a harder pattern.. :D I have just looked at that shrug pattern you put up and it is lovely but i think you should do something really easy to start with and work towards the shrug..maybe crochet yourself a hat or a scarf just so you get used to crocheting again..

They have some patterns here and also simple shrugs even for barbie dolls..

you may find it easier to start with a hat and it wouldnt take long to do..best of luck..i suppose you only need about 3 balls of wool for a hat..

Morning Scotkat. I like the short/long waistcoat pattern. I have one similar but only the short version.

Love that link, wildflower, and have put it in my favourites. I think I feel some crocheting coming on this winter ... already have some yarn! [IMG]

Hi Scotkat, I looked at Wildflower's link and was almost inspired to start a project. I think the idea of a hat to get back into the swing of things is a good one and red sounds very festive. Pleas post a piccie when you've finished.

I found that link when i was looking for something for skotcat to crochet as i think a shrug may be a bit hard for a starter..as it will have lots of shaping to it..I see their are barbie clothes on that link i will have to see if i can do some for the granddaughter..they wouldnt take long being they are so small.. :D :D I can see you all crocheting now so we shall expect some nice pictures..At the moment i am doing a blanket for the grandson i have to get my skates on as i have to do the granddaughter one as well..fortunately i am using chunky wool and it grows quickly..
