Marshalls if my memory serves me correctly were a seed, especially veg seed firm. I realise this isn't going to consul our friend, but it might help in understanding todays market.

Very few garden centers and plant outlets actually grow what they are selling. Most plant stock comes from the continent. I wonder what affect Brexit will have on the plant trade.

Was that the case when they promised a replacement it would probably mean they sent you a 'reject' not on their stock control system, if not it could well have been their last one left, with the poorest quality specimen left to last.
