He pretty much did. It was when a group of parents of shooting victims had got together with Obama to try to inject some common sense into gun laws. Gun lobbyists learned of the plans and campaigned to discredit Obama, and the parents of the victims. They won, and enough people backed the pro gun idiots that Obama's plans were scuppered. This was when he very publicly stood at a podium, with mics and cameras in front of him, and madeno effort at all to hide his utter disgust at those masses that think it's ok to ridicule the parents of murder victims, and cheerfully support the gun lobbyists.

have to come back and read this later. watching Trump talking about stuff now. LOL.
But, anyway, my thoughts, in general, really do not like anyone that is running. And most by now have stepped down. One person I really do not want there is Hillary. So just waiting till it all pans out. The choices are poor.

I think you're mistaking his attitude then of frustration, probably well deserved, for disgust. Obama has been horrified, as we have, at the insane refusal of the Gun supporters and Gun Lobby to even recognise any anti-gun proposals. So he's never talked down to an audience extremist or otherwise but he has shown his frustration, and who wouldn't, in the face of mindless, blind, callous, extremists. So I think "he pretty much did" is not Obama's style as I believe he definitely would say what he thought I think Obama has been the Americans most honest, transparent, articulate Good Guy that they had in a while. If anyone is going to bring American down or plunge it into internal strife it's going to be the Republicans who've lost control of their own candidates.:dunno::coffee:

read all finally. agree or don't agree, we are saddled with the choices we have, good or bad. November will arrive and I will stand at the polls voting for the lessor of the evils.

Richard Osman went on The Last Leg a short while ago and was asked about the Presidential candidates - turns out he's pretty clued up on the situation and was beside himself on what was on offer!

Nothing I can do about the circus so I'll sit back with the popcorn and see what comes to pass.

It is sad that in all of America these are our choices.

                      Least like or dislike?

That is what happens in the UK and has done for years now.

We vote for who we think will be the lesser of the two evils, it used to be three but one of them has been sidelined.

And that's why I say we need to sort out this so called democracy thing, before things get really bad.

A thought occurs to me. Its kind of linked to the Britain and eu thread.

It seems to me, as an outsider looking in, that the US is a collection of disparate states that are almost nations in themselves. Each state has its own government and laws to a small extent, such that everyone outside just sees the big single US. The US itself has three governments. They are, whoever is elected, the republicans, and the lobby groups.

The lobby groups rule overall. But when they are not shouting, the republicans rule. Only when the lobby groups and the republicans are asleep does the elected government get a say. And meanwhile in each state, there is someone playing at governor that nobody even knows.

So far, very like the eu.

It also seems to me that the people of the US don't just dislike their political candidates, they seem to hate them. Almost like they (the candidates) are actually evil or something. That's quite akin to how several factions in the eu see several string pullers in Europe.

So as we run up to our eu referendum, I wonder if we can learn something by looking objectively at the US fiasco.

I think it boils down to you run it as one country, or you dont.
Once you sub divide there becomes more problems/issues.

Which is why those in the EU want stronger union, they dont want countries making their own rules, they know it wont work in the long run and want the whole lot run and governed from Brussels, with just puppet governments in each country to keep the masses quiet and let us feel we are in control, via elections.

I just get the feeling that maybe America is on a totally opposite path to the EU.
