The problem is also the news, reporters etc. who I cannot believe at all. The hidden agendas, self serving narrow minded folks. It is just so scary.

Our news has shown him expressing extremist views towards many sections of society. He was also shown clearly asking his followers to beat up a heckler.

What sort of people support a man like that?

Let's consider a bit more, the point about him asking his worshippers to beat up a heckler. In effect, what he was saying was 'do not give respect to anyone who's opinion differs from the one I tell you to have, do not tolerate, do notlisten, just beat them up'.

70 odd years ago, we had someone like that in Europe. He had a lot of followers too, and he too had very extremist views. The Americans helped us to get rid of him and his sick twisted followers. Now many of the descendants of those Americans that helped liberate Europe and north Africa from a fascist dictator are ushering their own one into power in their own country.

Like you said, it's scary. But it's also very puzzling that a nation so proud of its democracy is creating itself a dictator, and its a little bit sad, that otherwise intelligent people are allowing themselves to be manipulated so much.

Its not surprising as the mega corporations have been running the West for years now. They finance Clinton and the Conservatives over here but have been outmanoevered by the Trump Corporation this time.
He will either break America or make it a great place to live and work in again ? .........

He'll make it a great place to live again (read: even better than now) if you're rich and white, and probably a man. :dunno: Think of how the USA is now and wind the clock back a few decades. Think similarly regarding the US's foreign relations, which he's undoubtedly damaged already.

I'm pretty flegged at the idea of a Trump POTUS, because then that madman would not only have control of the nukes literally right next to my country's most populous city, but would continue to insult and belittle other 'superpowers' and unnecessarily make those nukes (and so us) a potential target.

Well I was going to sign off and observe after my last comment but I do wish people wouldn't draw allusions to Hitler. he was a special combination of megalomaniac, a class all in it's own in sheer horrific murderous intent and a unique aberration. I don't like Trump but I don't believe he's that homicidal.

The coverage seems to be getting just too fantastical for me.

I read Boris's speech regarding the so called Hitler "comparison" and to be honest I don't believe he singled out Hitler but merely quoted history.

"European history had seen repeated attempts to rediscover the "golden age of peace and prosperity under the Romans".

"Napoleon, Hitler, various people tried this out, and it ends tragically. The EU is an attempt to do this by different methods," he said.

"But fundamentally what is lacking is the eternal problem, which is that there is no underlying loyalty to the idea of Europe.

"There is no single authority that anybody respects or understands. That is causing this massive democratic void."

I'm no extremist and I can't see anything untrue about the above statement. Napoleon tried to "unite" Europe by invasion and force, as did Hitler, the Romans, the Mongols, the Ottomans, the Franks..........the list goes on. Boris didn't say the EU was using such methods but that they have stated that they [the EU] want to unify the European countries into a single Federal State with the political and financial powers lying solely with the EU with basically all sovereign powers of the countries becoming eradicated so that the sole master is the EU.:dunno::coffee:

Its a sad day when people, politicians, media, governments try to rewrite history. There have been many disturbing horrific events in the worlds past that need to be remembered and not brushed under the carpet by the pc set and by those that wish to change history.

Hitler did some god awfull things to many peoples but that doesnt mean we cant use his name in public or talk about his aims.
The japanese did sme equally horrific crimes in the war and now their government is actively rewriting their school history lessons to cover up their henious deeds.

The parallels are there in plain view.

Hitler rose to power because the people were disillusioned, and ready to apportion blame for their economic situation. Hitler apportioned that blame, went against established norms, and used his charisma to brainwash the masses.

So far, it's very difficult to see how trump differs.

Hitler singled out certain sections of society to pin the blame, and the hatred onto, and used unsubstantiated rumour to sow the seeds of hatred towards those groups. Hitler chose the Jews as his main target, while trump has chosen Muslims as his primary target. So far, it still seems very similar.

Hitler promised to make his country great again, by breaking from accepted norms and fighting back against the establishment. Trump has promised the same. Ok, on this point alone, it's not so far removed from what everyone else offers, but it's the tone that differs a bit from the norm.

Trump hasn't won yet, so we can't compare trump any further with Hitler because Hitler didn't do all his horrible things until after he won power. So fair's fair, let's not blame trump for things that he has not done, and probably will not do.

Trump has however already said he intends to take America to war. He has said he wants to take Syria, steal the oil, and use the revenue from it to fund further war in the middle east. He's also said he would leave NATO. Sounds very much like a homicidal tyrant to me. So to sum up, he wants blames specific sections of society for all America's woes, wants to persecute them, wants tobreak out of iinternational treaties, and start a war of conquest to make his country great.

Was watching a US station the other day and they reckon one of the reasons he spouts some of his nonsense is to get free air time because he isnt spending big on his campaign. He isnt getting the finacial support unlike Clinton who has the system and Wall St. backing her.
Alec Salmond must be getting nervous becaiuse Trump really hates him :snork:

                    Doesn't everyone hate AS ???

I see Trump as the American version of Nigels bunch, forgotten the name.

They are not totally fully paid up members of the political elite, therefore they say what they think and not what is PC, in doing that, they make all kinds of statements that the media latch on to, blow up, make a meal of and stir everyone up.

Professional politicians would not make those mistakes, they largely know how to avoid questions, and talk for hours without saying anything.

To my mind this is what appeals to the masses, they are fed up with the kind of "dodge the issue" twits that we have around these days, the kind that sit on the fence and cant even work out where to put a bloody airport runway.
                    In the Uk that is.

and that is what Obama did. and yes many of them. and folks who are taken with fancy words think, oh that guy is smart he must be good and they vote for him. Having been in management for years, I cannot stand a boss that says nothing in a huge statement. So at the end I will summaries and asks for details from them, which is what America should do with any politician. Hey, how do you plan to change what??? And maybe they don't wish to tell us, because there is no plan, just donkey drippings. Or do they not give us value to us as thinking people??? well maybe not if the dumbing down of America has worked then why should we know the details. LOL.

In general there are lots of masses (through out the world) that just follow like sheep, not questioning. The one tell tale sign of them, is when they say "are we allowed to do something" .
Seems that Trump does not follow like sheep. As I said earlier he is a puppet master.

BTW--there had been comparison of Obama to Hitler also. (so that is not a new thing for people to throw about).

BTW--there is also talk that prior to Trumps running, he was never accused of any racist type of verbage etc. just now when he is running are they saying that. Who knows what is true.
