    Yeah well, the only reason to abandon a kid on a motorway is to get it killed, just like they do with dogs.
    You can abandon kids in all sorts of places, if that is your way, but a motorway is likely to cause more than one death, so anyone doing it is, in my, view, an idiot and should be locked up for attempted murder.

      I suspect that the 'reasoning' went something like this:

      - easy to drive off and put distance between the parent (I assume) and the child;
      - will be seen by many drivers, who will report seeing a lone child on the motorway;
      - will be picked up by Police fairly quickly, who will contact the Council.

      Public services - Police and Council's struggling for cash - how is this going to end?

      I've noticed an increase in stabbings and shootings - related to cash strapped policing perhaps?

      At the moment they have only agreed to talk about it. I suppose it's better than not agreeing to talk about it. Unfortunately, politicians are very good at talking but not doing!

      They haven't agreed to drop any of the tariffs currently in place.

        He must be well pleased with the way that his isolationist policies are going. In addition to the (average)$16 billion a year handout to farmers by congress he has added (by executive order) a further $12 billion. That is only a 75% increase.

        Federal aid for farmers is nothing new, but Trump's bailout is - CNNPolitics

        I think that he is getting a crash course in how you can bully small businesses and potentially drive them out of business but it is far harder to destroy the industries of foriegn countries.

                It is also dated before his humbling at the NATO summit and the embarrassment of the 'misspoke' incident with Putin!

                    We're puzzled up here. Apparently we need to import as much as we export to/from the U.S. The populations of New York State and Ohio state are as much as we have in all of Canada. We try to be good little consumers but..:dunno:

                    Trump also was very clever. He pulled a Fidel. Got all of his unwanted people to leave the country. And come here across unguarded borders.

                      I think Trump has made an enemy of the media pretty well.
                      If he could walk on water somehow they would turn it round and make him the devil.
                      I've never know a situation quite like this.

                      As I've said, Trump is Trump, not your usual politician, if some kind of deal gets made with the EU, CNN, who he hates, and they hate him, will make it negative.

                      I've stopped listening, but still hearing, the BBC in this country, it is so biased for what is supposed to be an independent, and fair point of view.
                      Not sure how it will end, but I hope Cliff richard takes the sods for the most he can, then all they will do is put up the licence fee.
                      Slightly off topic I know, but I've stopped believing most rubbish that I read.

                        You're right, Redstar, poor Mr Trump misspoke but even open minded, realistic Americans believe he does that every time he opens his mouth. I love the way when he says "I did this, I did that" and all his ingratiating "fans" don't even bother to question the veracity of his claims. He claimed those NATO countries who aren't paying their way will now pay 4% of their GDP.......yeah, right, fat chance of that. He's right, of course, about only 5 of the 28 members of NATO paying the 2% of their GDP, but returning to the USA and claiming he's made them agree to pay 4% is just hogwash and he knows it. But he also knows he could say to his devotees that the World is flat, the Moon is made of Cheese, and that they would believe him without question......which is sad.:dunno:

                        Jean-Claude Juncker is a man I don't like, but I have to admit he's a wily, determined, EU politician whose opinion of Trump is that he is a braggart who's word is not be be taken seriously. Jean-Claude Juncker will shake Trumps hand, tell him all the things he wants to hear, while knowing Trump is having to dip his hand into the American treasury to try to nullify the effects his actions are having on the Farmers, etc. Juncker will talk, talk and talk again without agreeing to anything while watching Trump scrabble more Billions of dollars out the the US Government to pay for the loss of export income to other countries. Juncker, as I said I don't like the man, but Trump is outclassed and Jean-Claude Junker will play him along and basically, politically, eat him for breakfast, but of course that won't be Trump's fault according to his adherents, as they only see what they want to see.:wallbanging:

                        I do find that that most on here think Trump supporters are stupid, unintelligent morons a worrying fact.
                        I think it is what we call in this country snobbishness, holier than thou individuals that look down on anyone who makes a living by getting dirty, thinks like normal people and want a better life without invading someone else country.
                        Its as if those people dont matter, their opinions dont matter.

                        Yeah, look out for your heads, you lot, anyone remember the French Revolution.:snorky:

                          The trouble is that the whole world and his dog knows that Trump makes deals and then totally ignores them. He has driven many small businesses (the very people that he purports to be behind) to the wall by reneging on contracts, simply in pursuit of increased profit.

                          I make my living getting covered in moo poo, I don't think that I look down on people (I'm probably what the chump would call a lefty liberal pinko) but I do not understand how anyone with any sort of inteligence could have bought into this mans lies and right wing, misogynystic utterances. That is not a personal attack on anyone, I am just genuinely baffled. With every utterance and tweet he reduces the US to an isolated laughing stock.
                          Business is everything to Trump, people are nothing. Yet he believes that a country can be run as a business - at the risk of repeating myself, it cannot. A country is a society, society changes. And the unavoidable fact is that modern developed societies do have a duty to less developed and poor societies, and most importantly, to those in peril (be they black, yellow, gay, Muslim or whatever). It is important that those of us who are fortunate enough to live in a society such as ours (as much as we moan about it) never lose sight of the fact that what we have now in terms of infrastructure and relative national wealth only came about as a direct result of the exploitation of foriegn lands and peoples, which also involved mass murder which in some cases was damn near to genocide.

                          Pete, I hope that you don't think that I've singled you out for a lecture/sermon. I was simply addressing points that you had the courage of your convictions to voice and that I am sure are thought by others who read this thread.
