Well, @longk I do see your point about business, and countries cant be run that way, but, if business is not doing well, no one will be doing well, especially the little bloke just scratching to make a living.

I know Trump is not ideal, but lots of people have put up with the alternatives for years, and basically felt ignored.
So to me Trump is their fault, the mainstream politicians, that have put the little bloke in the back ground for so many years.
Trump says he is going to provide jobs, jobs make people wealthier, at least those that want to work.
So you can see why he has appealed to the "unintelligent"

As to lies, politicians have been telling us lies for most of my life, and will probably continue to do so.

just listed to a clip from Clinton and from Obama both on immigration and both saying, they are hiring more people and toughing up the boarders, sending back unlawful entered people, etc etc. the same stuff Trump is saying. And back then NO ONE said anything about what Clinton and Obama said, no one.

I find that @pete rude and insulting . I voted for him, and will again.
he has created more jobs. Guess @pete your understanding about how economics work is at the first grade level.

        @redstar I put unintelligent in inverted commas.:smile:
Because that appears to be the main thinking on this side of the pond:smile:
        He only appeals to rednecks?
But not my thinking, it was not intended as an insult to those that voted for trump, the opposite actually.

My understanding of economics might be pretty abysmal, I never got a great education.
I just gone to work for the last 48 yrs:biggrin:

Need my violin . Been working myself for 53 years with an education. And paid for my own college while working full time, had no handouts from parents ever.
Plumber, and mechanics make a ton of money without college education.

And simply going to college does not make you educated.

I cannot spend time discussing the fake news you all hear over there.

                Quotes are subjective.

anyway, did you know when Obama was elected they were busing black people into the polling areas because they did not own a car just to get more votes for him. what education level was that? that is why we were in a mess. getting out of the mess now.

Well, the USA GDP grew by 4.1% this year which is good. But several american, none political, Economists have pointed out that USA exports have also increased greatly, but then pointed out that that was due to American companies having tried to delay the effects of the "Tariff War" by exporting as much as they could, at lower prices. Which means when the Tariffs come into effect, especially with China, there will be nobody of that size of economy to export to and then the bubble of rising GDP will pop.
With regard to the level of unemployment in the USA being at an all time low but, like in the UK which also has record employment, the jobs are not permanent, well paid, nor good for peoples careers. If statistics give you the impulse to bow the direction of Trump Tower it might be useful to remember[IMG]

Now, I don't think that Trump could understand or agree with the above.:dunno::heehee:

Well, I guess that's what they call progress, Redstar, as there was a time when coloureds, in the USA, had sit at the back of the Bus. Here in the UK a lot of white and coloured people don't own cars, but we don't regard that as relevant to their education level.:dunno:

                    Errrrr.............pot, kettle, black!

So if the best that he can manage is 0.2% taking into account seasonal short term hiring it is not much of a recovery is it?

So (and I quote) "I got them (the other NATO members) to agree to raise their defense spending to 4% of GDP" is not fake news then? The raise to 4% is what they agreed to whilst Obama was in office and all that they agreed with the chump was that that was what they will do. Fake news straight from the chumps mouth. Or maybe he misspoke?

I'm not really sure what being black and not owning a car has to do with educational attainment? It probably says more about the underlying racism that still exists in the US and the way that the education system fails those in poorer areas (a problem that also exists here).

I was just connecting to @pete statement of him not being educated. Over here in our large country there are many areas where there are no bus service at all. so you have to have a car to get places. So during that election of Obama special buses went around and picked up folks to take to the polls. it was told that the highest numbers of blacks voted then than ever in history because of the buses. But then, there was no one out there judging fake news or not, so who knows the real truth. It is unfortunate the history of the USA when it comes to the black people. But its a shame that Obama did not help that situation, he made it worse. Trump is certainly making it better, or not worse at least.

William Wilberforce's Slave Trade Act 1807 abolished the slave trade in the British Empire. It was not until the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 that the institution finally was abolished, but on a gradual basis. Wonder what events happened gradually after. Since you @ARMANDII brought up our back of the bus issues. Bet if I do some googling around I can find some stuff. But anyway seems UK knows more about the USA history than --at least I do about UK history.

Due to Union measures such as the Confiscation Acts and Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, the war effectively ended slavery, even before ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment in December 1865 formally ended the legal institution throughout the United States.

I didn't say I wasn't educated, but my point was I never went on to what we call "further Education" etc.
Things were different in those days.
Apart from 4 yrs at a building and science college one day a week while working, but no uni.

I still think you are missing most of my points @redstar.

I'm one of the few over here who think Trump is not all bad, and has some good points, but I must admit you have shaken my belief that Trump voters are actually ordinary thinking people, with some kind of vision for a better type of politician to vote for in elections.

I'll still follow my own thoughts.

I hope you actually read this one without just hitting on the bits you dont like:biggrin:
