I know....it is stupid really but plants have feelings, don't they?:)[/quote]
Dunno Shobhna but I suffer from thinophobia, I really hate to thin out seedlings, it seems to me to be the height of ingratitude to pull out a small plant after it has made all that effort to grow. Just one of the many reasons why I'll never be anything more than someone who potters about in the garden rather than 'A Gardener'

Ditto Digger. I feel as though I dont have the right to decide which should live and which should die. I thought I was just to sensitive and daft. It makes me feel better that Im not on my own in this matter. Thats why i never grow plants in that way. I only sow what i need into seed trays that way they all get a good chance.:D 02

    Thinophobia......
I'm so glad that I'm not alone in my predicament then.:)
I have taken to very carefully counting out the seeds so I don't have to thin them out, becasue I can't do that. I want to give them all an equal chance.

I guess one good thing that comes of this is that I always have plants to give away to anyone that makes me feel that they will look after my babies.:D

My tomato plants are very tall ,see previous thread, but i have loads of tomatoes on them, some are of the size to pick ,but they are still green,no sign of even pink yet,is there any way to encourage ripening,is it lack of sun ?,
i missed a couple of side shoots but they are fruiting as well so i have left them alone.i am stopping the plants at 4 trusses as i have so many i am trying to think of the best way to use them up.:)

A little known fact about side shoots on tom plants is that they grow curled up inside the main stem (like a tape measure) and wait until your back is turned and then spring out to form 7" side shoots with flowers on. I've watched tomato plants growing for hours though I've never seen a side shoot do this but I know it's true, so I'll keep watching!
