    Clueless is absolutely correct.

As a rule of thumb, if a site tells you to disable anti-virus before downloading anything, then don't do it.

There are lots of sites around that provide drivers, but you are better off going to the manufacturers site and seeing if they still have the drivers available. Even if it's obsolete, they might still have them tucked away somewhere.

Wow, I think I remember seeing 'twain' on something. I have decided to give up now:) I'm not clever enough and even though I have an insurance thing for this pc (and my laptop) I don't want to risk things/

It's probably easy to do this, if you know what you're doing. I used to know things, lol, lol! Thank you for your patience with this. I've put it back on freecycle but told them they need to get drivers - so that will mean I have to take it to the dump!!

Oh well, nothing ventured and all that!

    cheers

All these sort of problems is the reason I changed to a Linux system. On our system most flatbed scanners and printer/scanners work with Xsane, however, I have to keep an old XP system to use film scanners and Flatbed/film scanners. We don't need AV software to protect our system as it is built to prevent anything writing itself to the system. I do of course, use a wireless router with its own firewall.
