      Ta da! It has arrived. You know what I love about good plant mail order companies, the packaging! :D

      And here is the ugly scene I am hoping it will help to cover. I have to grow it in a large container but this is a large-ish 50 x 50 cm one full of good loam based compost and rotted manure. If it really suffers, I can plant it out in another corner.

        Hi Jack congratulations my friend,it should be alright there,it will get some warmth from the wall and shelter from the wind,if you can please don't let your beautiful Rose get waterlogged with all this rain we are having,if you have any other questions just ask we have some mighty fine Rosarians at Gardeners Corner:snork::blue thumb:

          Thank you and will do - I'm entering uncharted territory here with my first rose :D That area of the garden can be quite windy but the rose is protected a bit by a water butt to the left of it and the large metal drain pipe that you can see. I think it should be OK re: water. The compost wasn't waterlogged at all when I dug down into so drainage seems to be alright so far and I will keep a close eye on it.
