I was thinking more of a garden service aimed at those who can't or don't want to do it, perhaps elderly people. I thought about this awhile ago as a few visitors to my house commented on my pots and the baths and how they would like to have something colourful outside. I don't suppose it would generate a huge amount of money but it could tie in with other things like pet sitting, painting and decorating maybe. I did a spring/summer bulb pot for R"s sister and a friend of mine several years ago and they were both pleased with them. Lots of choices for pots too.

@luciusmaximus For a while my wife had her heart on home boarding for dogs. She did a first aid course and volunteered at a local (ish) RSPCA shelter.

We are always looking after family dogs so it seemed a logical progression.

To board dogs professionally you need a license from the council. With the way our house and garden is at the moment, we would never pass an inspection without a lot of money being spent.

Not long ago a family dog that was staying with us chewed a whole in the sofa. That made her think a bit more carefully about it all.

She always thinks I'm being unsupportive but I insist the conditions have to be right. You can't enter into these things lightly.

The other issue is my mum's dog can be aggressive with other dogs. It would upset her if we refused to have her dog when she goes out for the day.

Recently mum's dog has been diagnosed with liver and kidney problems. He is 12 after all. Maybe by the time he finally gives out we may be in a position to make the house improvement needed.

The moral of this story is Dog boarding is a long term commitment not a quick fix.

There are already dog sitters and walkers in the village.

I'll come back to this later. I've got to go to work

Nobody is going to pay me to look after their garden. I can't even look after my own. If you follow my posts regularly you'll know that I don't have a clue what I'm doing. That's why I joined GC in the first place. If my cat hadn't have been run over I probably wouldn't have even done that.

Lawn mowing and watering pots would be about my limit. Maybe there's a future in that.

That kind of job can be restrictive though. I couldn't just down tools when a more lucrative job came in. Again, maybe a thought for the future once I get a bit more experienced.

I've looked into catalouge selling before. It doesn't intetest me. Besides, there are already plenty of agents floating about.

Using my car for a part time venture might be contentious. I would have to check that with my insurance company.

The surveys or homeworking is ideally what I'm after. I can do that at home and a time that suits. With that I CAN down tools if I have to go out. At home my wife could help too.

I do some of those in my spare time but am rather picky, so make less - about half that.

Are you any good with an iron at all? because you could always set up an ironing service because a lot of people hate ironing with a passion and might be glad of someone to do it for them.

Others do Blogs where you write about your life/holidays/plants etc and post photos/recipes (photos stage by stage of what you are cooking if you do any) and I think some of them make money out of it but I am not sure if that is through what they are writing about or the adverts that appear on their blogs but you would have to look into it as I am not sure how it all works:biggrin:

Hi @Zigs. I got the link thanks. I had an interesting one the other day. Only 3 questions

1 Do you work in an IT department?
2 What tech gadgets do you own?
                  3 Do you have cancer?

I just completed one about grocery shopping and was happy to be able to tick the boxes "use smart phone" and "use third party app" about viewing store flyers. I really like my reebee app!
