Easy to grow chilli plants in England?

Ooops sorry....what i am growing this year.

 

I have some Pepper 'Chocolate Beauty' seeds that I'm trying to grow, not sure if you've grown them before? Bought them because of the name :WINK1:

 

I grew that one last year, its a good pepper, produced lots....you'll like that one.

 

Think I'll have much success growing it in North England, though? Never grown any veg before this year!

 

I think you'll do fine, especially after seeing the other pepper pictures, the key is to make sure that you dont over water when they are seedlings.

Until mine are a little bigger then what you posted in your pictures, i use a spray bottle to water mine, but it looks like yours are doing just fine too.

 

I read back, and i dont see that you are using a grow light....if you are, and you use a spritz bottle, just make sure that they dont dry out, you'll have to be a little more diligent in watering/spritzing.

 

If for some reason you do get mold, sprinkle some ground cinnamon...seriously:WINK1:, onto the dirt and it gets rid of it

I don't use a light, nope, I just put a plastic bag over them, as per Ziggy's advice, and they germinated fine after that.

 

Going slightly off topic, since my chillis have yet to make an appearence above ground - was catching up on recorded TV last night & there was a short visit to the South Devon Chilli Farm in "The Hungry Sailors" ITV 19th Jan (This link may or may not bring up the page in ITV Player: Video - ITV Player ) - worth a look if you are interested in their chiili-chocolate !

OxfordNick - not sure which you're growing but I have an unknown variety that I collected the seeds from fruits that I was given. 15cm long, dark red and fiery as hell! I could get a couple over to you if you're interested. Got about 50 plants..........
Also got some Naga seeds coming.............

 

I think Ive got Red Habanero & Black Hungarian + a small hot red one that a Mexican friend gave me a few seeds for a while ago - Im not trying too hard to get them to grow at the moment 'cos Im off on holiday in Feb so anything that I plant now is going to be at the mercy of my home made drip irrigation system for a couple of weeks... I may well take you up on your kind offer when I get back & find that all the water leaked out on the first night I was away & everything has died !

 

I would lend you my father, but he managed to kill my Deppea splendens seedlings last year!!!!

Just seen your msg on FB, make sure your tree roots don't dry out, water if it hasn't rained.
