Eden Project visit

When planning your visit, bear in mind that you could easily fill 2 days at Eden alone, if you take your time to actually look at stuff. Its still worth a visit even if you can only give it half a day, but if time permits and all that. Its the same price for a 1 year pass as it is for a day ticket, if you tick the gift aid box when you first buy your ticket.

They often put on shows/events during the day and sometimes in the evening. The day time ones are including in your normal ticket price. Its worth checking their website before you go to see what's going to be on, as obviously different things interest different people. We went once when there were a load of Tibetan Buddhist monks doing some really funking drumming

While you're in the area, if time allows, its also worth checking out the lost gardens of Heligan, which is just a few minutes drive from Eden. There you'll find orchards, walled gardens, weird sculptures made of earth, rock and plants, and a real jungle among other things. Again you could easily spend a full day there and not run out of things to see.

 

I went in the first year it opened and again about 4 years ago. So due for another visit any time now, and haven't been to Cornwall for a while now. Best get down there with the tent this summer, I think.

 

Houseboat might be a safer bet!

Not from the Eden Project - they're an arm and a leg there! But...................there are some cracking nurseries in Cornwall and Devon. I particularly recommend Hill House Nursery in Devon.

The Jungle is worth the effort alone.

 

I did enjoy the Eden Project, but I enjoyed The Lost Gardens of Heligan more the following day, which is just up the road.
Totally different experiences, but Heligan is more a gardeners garden imho.

 

I found more to float my boat at the Eden Project, but as a whole space The Jungle at Heligan blew me away! It is a true masterpiece IMO.

 

I agree Eden project is fantastic a great place for the whole family to have the chance to view so many native and exotic plants. Having been with a young family and at another time with a group of adults I can vouch for the fact it's a great place for a gardener to get a fix with non gardeners. - there is plenty to keep them interested, whilst your in raptures. But Heligan is mesmerising, it really blew me away too!

 

Last time I was there, there was a procession of Tibetan Buddhist monks blowing horns and banging drums and chanting. My son, who was only 6 months old at the time, got frightened. One of the monks saw that my son was pulling that face that babies pull when they're deciding whether or not to burst into a loud wail, and actually broke off from his parade and came over to entertain the lad. He was successful, and my son decided against crying

 

Has anyone been to Tresco - is it worth a visit - sorry if this should be another thread but whilst we are in cornwall thought i would risk it!

 

We went to Eden on holiday last year. My second visit there. Anyone thinking of going, check out tesco club card vouchers if you have them. It's a fraction of the price.

 

2 for 1 card in May Gardeners World mag (out now) for various gardens that includes Eden Project http://www.gardenersworld.com/2-for-1-gardens/about This might be better if there's 2 adults, so paying £23.50 for 2 rather than £16 in clubcard vouchers than could be doubled up to £32.00 (when instore/online promotions) or swapped for up to 4x value for other stuff (paid for £40 meal @ Prezzo, Edinburgh yesterday using £10 in clubcard vouchers).

I think GW has a cover price of £4 but this 2 for 1 deal comes around every year as do 3 months trial subs for £3 offers, so trial at the right time and get the one with the card + 2 other issues for £1 less than a single mag from the newsagents.

 

Eden is excellent and well worth a visit but like others Heligan will always have a special place in my heart

 

I visited the Eden project four years ago. At the time it was cheaper to buy the tickets and print them off online, it also saved queuing on arrival.

To be honest I wasn't impressed with it and won't be visiting again.
