I can - but I'm an inveterate liar. :noidea:

Another reason not to change my car :heehee:

Although my car is enough of a nuisance when it tells me, every time I switch my engine on, that I haven't linked my phone to the car. Yelling at it "I don't have a phone" doesn't seem to sink in.

As they are slowly finding out in Wales, it's the 20mph speed limit that is bringing the country to its knees. ;)
Not the people who ignore it.

I got caught last year, I opted for the speed awareness course rather than taking a fine and points. I do try to stick to speed limits but it was a lapse in concentration, I've probably crept over the limit several times since, not intentionally. I use cruise control for the motorway variable limits and those long stretches of 50mph roadworks currently on the M1.

It would be difficult to stick to 20mph, we have a few roads at that speed around here and it seems far too slow, guess the Welsh government must be raking in the fines right now. I doubt it has any effect on the economy though, most main roads here are at a crawl at rush hour with sheer weight of traffic.

I know someone who didn't disable the limiter but he could get a lorry 44ton which was limited to 56mph to get to 80mph (he payed for this in the end) he was on job and finish so quicky done and home, he left taco in the lorry and i could see the speeds he was doing, reported it to the manger nowt was said, gearbox's on some lorrys were nackered, he used to knock it out of gear on the hills then 1 day he lost the lot on the m42 they found his arm at the back of the trailar as he tip it over on the driver side

Some years ago a Scottish friend of mine was stopped for speeding in England. She laid on the accent with a trowel and they let her off with a warning because they couldn't understand a word she said. Mind you, it was difficult to understand her at times when she wasn't laying in on. I reckon they actually thought she was a visitor from overseas.

The problem with some speed limits is - they're not sensible either. There's a section of road I frequently use when heading up to the L. Lomond road [A82]. You're basically at the end of the motorway/dual carriageway from Glasgow, and going round a roundabout to head into Milton, a small town. As you leave the roundabout, the speed limit is still the National one that the m'way/dual c'way has. About 100 yards further on the limit is 40mph, understandably. What's the point of having that 60/70mph limit for that distance, when they could just make it 40 all the way , or even 50, at most, for the first part?
Then there's the idiots who have no idea of how to drive on narrow glen roads that have passing places - for obvious reasons, and that's passing, not parking, which some of them don't understand either.
Like the one who nearly pushed me off the road the other day, coming round a bend towards me at speed in his motorhome. Just as well there was a bit of verge on my side for me to swerve into. He's lucky I wasn't in a very large tractor...

Apparently this nearly new one lost a front wheel and ended up in a farmers field but people are trying to trace the owner because the same thing happened to a new one in Ipswich.

Chinese owned brand - Volvo were a major shareholder until quite recently, but it appears they pulled out when they realised that the EV market wasn't taking off like a rocket as they had anticipated.

I am already deeply worried about the environmental and humane concerns I have for what goes into building the batteries and other bits and pieces so, given what's just happened with mobile phones and pagers, I'm not in any hurry to buy an EV of any sort and I don't buy anything of Chinese manufacture on principle.
