There are some decent capacity/ranges knocking about already, however you do have to take those ranges with a pinch of salt. Personally, I think they need to take a second look at the way that they certify the tests as they are wholly not representative of real life.

Ach, it's OK - it will be mostly at night when things have less traffic.. or when your lot are on strike again ;)

They'll be wanting to only work 4 days next... Oh.

I did find out some interesting news on Friday during a chat about batteries, maintenance and management etc. The new Picc line trains use a lithium battery. I would hope that all predictable safety stuff has been considered and planned for in the unlikely event of catastrophic failure but if it happens on the underground it will never be forgiven

@Stephen Southwest, it was on a BBC radio 4 consumer programme this week. Quite informative. I am all for moving away from fossil fuels. It is the lack of infrastructure I am particularly exercised by!

That four day thing is going to come back and bite someone squarely on the arse before long. Given it was coupled with a 3.8% rise, but a drop in weekly hours by circa 2hrs, my back of cig packet maths tells me that the operating costs have just increased circa 18% - - that is no small beer.

I will try and remember tomorrow and find a video done by a car YouTube channel for a charity run - they chose to run a BYD electric car - and it shows just how poor the infrastructure is in this country.

Yes, it's a shame that quite reputable reporters have got caught up in the whole polarisation zeitgeist - I'd expect it from Channel 5, but even Radio 4 is now encouraging us to get exercised!
Luckily the reality for those of us who use BEV's on a regular basis is quite different to the sensationalist outlier experiences that such stories rely on...

Well the bit that alarmed me, @Stephen Southwest, was the lack of charging points, and then the requirement that an app be used at a service station, rather than payment via a bank card. Do you know anything about that?

Why? This is a discussion forum where we can discuss pretty much whatever we please. Attempting to cancel out views, experiences and opinions that do not match your own is not how life works I'm afraid.

Just in case I forget, here it is - again, they did this for charity. The car itself seemed to do really quite well, it was the infrastructure that let the side down.

I appreciate your views, experiences and opinions, especially when they differ from mine.
I've just seen too many conversations get lost when it becomes a battle of YouTube videos!
I'm not sure either of us would expect the other to wade through a post that took 40 minutes to read!
