Mine is still 21inch, I've got a bigger one but its in a room a rarely use, so it just a waste of space really.
I sometimes walk down the street around dusk and cant help but notice how massive some people need their TV to be, even in relatively small rooms they have this gigantic screen where everyone who appears on it is larger than in real life, must be like living with giants.

That's a man thing, they can't cope with other men having a bigger one ...

The size of TV screens has become ridiculous in my opinion. We have a 32" screen which is plenty big enough in our room. If it dies we will have a real struggle to replace it. Our niece has a 55" screen in a room smaller than ours.

I don’t know how people sit and look up to watch their TV, high up on the wall, at night. I’d have a bad neck after one night of watching with my head held upwards all the time. Don’t know why or where this trend came from from watching it at eye level ?

There's a family along from me who have a ginormous TV on their lounge wall. These houses are small - I couldn't stand being that close to such a huge screen, especially with all that flashing colour going on. It always looks lurid - lights up half the street.

I never understand that high level thing either @Songbird. Horrible!

Our local area is full of normal sized, semi detached houses, where you can't see through the front window because there is an enormous telly covering it. Our TV is modest and we had real trouble buying one that small but surely people must think it's a bit excessive when the only flat space they have that's big enough, is the one that let's the light in.

Our new neighbours knocked through and removed all the ground floor walls apart from those separating the hallway from the rest. They now have two enormous TVs on the chimney breasts. They are only about 12 feet apart so how they cope with sound from 2 different channels at the same time I don't know.

There is a brand called Cello which specialises in smaller TVs, and even still makes TVs with a built in DVD player because there is still demand. The TVs are manufactured in the UK.

The obvious answer I grant you. But I've seen them with both TVs on and nobody with headphones/earphones.

I said no headphones or earphones. They have no curtains at the windows and it's very clear view. Nothing of any kind in the ears. I'm aware of the size of wireless earbuds.

One of the TVs is muted and they've got the captions switched on.

And probably won't know/admit it to themselves. When I was a kid, there was a load of flats (the white ones in the photo below) that were for senior citizens.. I lived in the house that sits directly behind where the camera is here:

                  upload_2024-12-25_8-30-28.png

There was a lady who lived in the house (a lovely lady, it has to be said) who used to have her TV so loud you could head it from our front garden. I remember being in the local corner shop one day when she was in, and she was discussing a recent visit to the doctor, where the doctor was apparently wanting to do a hearing test.. "and I told him, so I did... I don't need any hearing test, I can hear just fine" - I admit, I laughed.
