No. These were videos showing real journeys and real experiences at charging stations. I suppose a great deal depends on what journey you are making where.
One I watched was Liverpool to Southampton and back. The only problem they experienced was they had booked a hotel with destination charging and the chargers were all out of commission, so they had to go to a charging station the following morning instead of overnight charging at the hotel.

I remember making a trip up to the Spey Valley one Sunday. I didn't refill when I arrived expecting to fill up on my return journey but the filling stations all closed at 6 pm. I wasted more petrol detouring to find petrol. Eventually, I found a filling station open but it only had two-star and though my car needed four-star but beggars can't be choosers. At least I got home.

Spend so much in store and you get a 5p/litre off voucher. I got one the other day. The only problem was the Morrisons I use doesn't have a filling station!

The reason was that they only had one till open, the other person was just making the tea I think.
Lack of staff or maybe they just don't have to bother.
I don't often look at the price, but I think I paid 137 for petrol.

There was a piece in the news today about electric cars. Some scientists are worried about the increase in pollution from tyre wear from heavier vehicles. They were estimating that if all cars were current EVs, there'd be several billion additional tonnes of tyre rubber making it into the environment. Specifically they were worried about nano particles not just going airborne, but also getting into the soil and rivers and streams and ultimately into the sea.

I've said it before, that the current batch of EVs are really just prototypes. New technologies will emerge that make them more practical. Also in the news today, a Chinese company reckons it's perfected a battery that has twice the capacity of the current lithium ion ones of the same weight, but also needs far less wiring, making further weight savings.

Electric car range set to double with first production of breakthrough battery

They reckon they're going into mass production next year.

It will be interesting to see how car manufacturers use this new battery type. Will they double the range of the car to say 600 miles, which is more than the range on a full tank in some petrol cars, or will they opt for a slightly smaller battery with a range closer to 400 to 500 miles.

I think for most people, 400 miles on a full charge would be plenty. As a rule of thumb, the average annual mileage tends to be around 12,000. That works out at about 230 miles per week. Of course there will be occasional long journeys, but for most that's not common, so a range of about 400 miles on a full charge should be plenty.

I certainly agree about what and where. If you were round this way, and we have a busy motorway running through, you would be up a creek without a paddle (or in a car with no electricity ) if you wanted to charge your car.

I never go on what they show in videos or say on the TV but check things out for where, and when, I want to go. I also never believe what the manufacturers, or salesmen, say the range of a tank of petrol is. :)

Just found out that Morrisons were selling diesel at 1p lower than petrol, so that was probably adding to the surge, even if something just appears cheap people will travel miles to get it.
Probably both are being sold at rip off prices.

Hydrogen cars will take over in around ten years time you won't see an electric one, there's no lithium left to keep making the batteries.

The worrying part is there's an abundance of lithium. Most of it is dissolved in seawater and in the sea bed. There are already companies eying it up. If the technology to extract it at scale is developed, and if any government takes the necessary bribe to allow it to be extracted, it will result in an ecological disaster on an unprecedented scale.

My lad went down to Lancashire with a load of compost today, there is a matrix sign up warning EV drivers that 0/20 rapid chargers are available at Tebay. I do know that Tesla were putting another 4 rapid chargers in at the southbound services but will the new and other chargers be up and running for the bank holiday weekend.

Some EV car owners are now complaining about owner driver courier vans for using the charging points and that they should be for cars only.

Why haven't any of these EV got solar power built in to their design?

Do you think you could get anything worthwhile out of a solar panel on the roof, if that's what you mean.
