    And that’s the point isn’t it? No one is being forced to buy anything at this point in time. Quite likely that ICE cars will be around for at least another 10+ years. The price of new EV’s is falling, the second hand market is growing. I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. The way I see it, we are all (at some point) going to have to accept a new reality, just as we’ve done in the past (a different way of doing things). In the meantime, we have plenty of time to ‘sort’ ourselves out, both individually and as an industry.

    PS, I don’t feel I’m being treated as a criminal either.

      I dont feel like a criminal and I accept that we have time to sort things out.

      My biggest concern is I don't think governments will treat us fairly in the next few years in their headlong push to get this so called net zero thingy.

      And the big stick will be used like it has in the past, Ulez is just the beginning of what is to come, you will, at some point, have to conform or pay through the nose to just stay on the roads.
      And it will be gradually brought in over the next few years.

      OK if you have money to burn, but for those just getting by, I see them being forced in the worst public transport system in the world or ending up house bound.

        Hiya Pete. Worst public transport system in the world? I think not…WATCH: Drone shows people trapped in Pakistan cable car :yikes:
        Interestingly, when we visited London, I was very impressed at how easy it was to get around.
        Regarding being treated fairly, I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but ultimately the lost revenue will have to be recouped. That said, the ‘books’ have to be balanced at some point, don’t they?

          I forgot about Pakistan:scratch::biggrin:

          I have heard that public transport is good in London, but not in most places.
          The revenue will have to be recouped I agree, but will it be done fairly, I only got rid of my last car, which I really liked because they kept pushing up the road tax to close on £600 a year, excuse was as the emissions were high.

          The same process will, I'm sure, happen in the next few years with those that stick with ICE vehicles as opposed to EVs its the stick they use to beat you into doing what they want, money.:smile:
          Off topic but close.
          Just heard the biggest load of old Boll***s on the news, the Eastbourne airshow was carbon neutral this year,..............they paid to plant 15000 trees in Uganda.:biggrin:

          Indeed, much as I loved my XF, getting out of it could be somewhat challenging, especially when having a bad day. The Fabia is a great wee motor - my mum had two of them in succession, hot on the heels of a Felicia (if you remember them!); can't say I was ever a fan of FIAT myself, but they certainly shift a lot of metal, so they must be doing something right somewhere.

          The Volvo isn't quite as big as a Range Rover, and seem to be driven a bit more conservatively as you'd expect from Volvo owners - much as they have tried to appeal to younger buyers, they do still seem to be driven by those 45+

          I agree that Range Rovers and even a lot of Discovery Sport etc do seem to be driven by complete knobs who probably only have them because they get a company car deal of some sort... the very same ones who used to be up your backside on any A-road in their BMW or Audi beforehand.

          I find higher cars harder to get in and out of, my BIL has a "KIA god knows what" and its like a climbing exercise to get in and out, but even so you still cant get stiff knees past the front door posts.

          The Fabia and Felicia are Skodas, now part of VAG. I liked my Volvos. A 144 and more recently the S40.

          Hi,

          In 2014 we bought a new Fabia Monte Carlo in black over red; it looked gorgeous. We felt every road imperfection due to it's sports set up and skinny tyres it was like being on a skate board but in spite of this we liked it a great deal.

          In 2016 we were invited to a special event at the main Skoda dealership where we'd bought the Fabia and ended up with an even better car; our Yeti in black is brilliant and we love it so much we've now had it seven years.

          Unlike now when so many cars are on lease we pay cash for our car then own it outright; to me it appears leasing a car is rather like paying rent on a house never owning it; you pay your money though and take your pick.

          Kind regards, Colin.

          My Fabia is the exact opposite. It has huge wide tyres which cost an arm and a leg to replace. Thankfully, with the mileage I do I should never need to replace them, unless, of course, I damage them.

            You dont often get a sports set up with skinny tyres, unless you mean low profiles.

            That just shows the insanity of the people who think that any of this is an answer. If parked as they should be, with engine off, how exactly is a diesel car any worse than a petrol or LPG one in terms of emissions? Ironically, the only car that does have the potential to create emissions when parked up would be an electric one whilst it is charging!

              Hi,

              This is as sick as it comes; the guy telling us what to do in order to control emissions but he drives around in a £400,000 bullet proof massively polluting tank;

              Why is he still in office.

              Kind regards, Colin.

                Because we still live in a democracy and his term in office expires next May unless he is relected.
                Also he is only Mayor of London, so he cannot affect what you do in Yorkshire and so you can drive your Yeti as much or as little as you desire.
                Apparently there is a Yeti reserve in Bhutan.

                  Sadly, it DOES affect people in Yorkshire - firstly, in the simple sense when they choose to visit the capital city or any relatives who live in the outskirts, but secondly when people choose to leave the London area and move to areas such as those in Yorkshire. If I had the opportunity to be out of this area tomorrow, I would be gone. Finally, this is just the start - this is NOT about clean air, it is about money and control.

                  Exhibit A:
