Bradford & Sheffield are in Yorkshire; above is a list of places further north than London and these zones are spreading charging for clean air. I've just entered our lovely Yeti's reg number and these are the results. We have a clean 2.0L diesel 2016 SE L Yeti fitted with automatic stop/start also it's the Adblue model; the first six years it cost £30 per year to road tax this year it's £35. My wonderful wife and I can drive into all the above without clean air charge.

If our diesel Yeti is so clean then why the rush for milk floats which not only also pollute but kill adults and children alike whilst their country is exploited and they are treated no better than slaves. Electricity isn't clean; it's got to be generated even wind turbines and solar panels are manufactured with the bulk of solar panels made in China which isn't next door to the UK.

Regarding the UK being a democracy are you sure with what's happening; in a democracy people can also be voted out.

May I respectfully suggest you buy one of these Yeti's you might even enjoy a trip to Bhutan.

I'm just waiting until Khan extends the boundaries of London still further.
I'm not sure who makes these decisions on city boundaries as London appears to be getting bigger all the time and swallowing up places.
Down here the running joke is calling this place the London borough of Maidstone, i just wonder how long it will be.

 

I was watching something the other day and they were talking to residents on the boundary with Kent, and most were saying they would like to be swallowed up into London, because of the extra benefits.
I cant actually remember what the benefits were though, and not the kind of benefits that would do me any good.

Bit of a joke really when you consider half the population of London seem to have moved out into places like here.

 

Interesting thing on the news today. A scaffolding firm that was hit with £11,500 in fines over the original ULEZ zone took it to a tribunal and the judge found that the signs were not legal as they give no information about charges or even the fact that there are charges. TfL had to scrub the fines and lawyers say that the same thing pertains to motorists who want to take it to court in the future. It is not cut and dried but the tribunal findings are likely to be taken on by a court in the future.
The ULEZ zones are legal as the High Court decided such, but the signs are not and until they are changed there is a possible legal loophole.

 

London I've always visited by train or coach and then used the rather decent bus and train system.

This is probably a topic for another thread or two. Though I suspect that the people of Yorkshire and it's weather are not significantly different to those elsewhere in the UK.

Where do milk floats come into it as modern electric vehicles are as far removed from old fashioned milk floats as the floats were from the horse and carts that preceded them.

Why would I want another car when I have one that is relatively new, complies with current regulations and I only have parking for one car on my drive.

I would love to have gone to Bhutan as I enjoyed several trips to Nepal and India and it was something I hoped to carry on with in retirement, but unfortunately my health has deteriorated quite markedly over the past two or three years. So even if I could arrange health insurance I physically could not cope with the altitude. Also Bhutan has a tourist tax of about $200 a day. Which is something perhaps London, Yorkshire and Devon etc should consider (maybe not $200 a day, but perhaps a tenner a head per day).

Quite right there are no easy/cheap solutions: even the good old fashioned horse was posing environmental problems in London and other cities. With all the horse urine and manure dropped in the streets, throw in the amount of feed and bedding required to be grown harvested and transported and you have considerable congestion issues as well.

 

The Kent county council are refusing to put signs on their land warning about ULEZ, I think other counties are doing similar.
Not sure how that will pan out if you took them to court.

 

When are they going to charge the farmers, neighbouring farmer has been out chasing his bullocks around with his quad bike and now the smell of sweaty bullocks is now bad ,you could hear them farting as they were runing in to the farm

Any way i won't be coming to London or any big city because of any charge's that may apply, most will want payment by online which i don't do, so as i done do i won't go

 

Oh its not stopping at London.

Ahhh, but did you see the Yeti sanctuary.

 

Quiet day at the office: so I just checked and the trek I'd looked at some years ago 18 days, camping is £8000 including taxes, flights, Bhutan visa, not Nepalese visa, leaving 9 Oct 2023.
As far as I can make out it seems to be $228 per day, discount for staying longer, pay for 12 and the rest of the month is free pay in dollars though.
Oh well; maybe in another life.
