    Interesting one!

I haven't really immersed myself in Christmas for the past 3 years (too busy with Uni), so I'm looking forward to getting "involved" again this year.

Would I send an e-card? No.
Would I like to receive an e-card? Depends who from. So, if Jenny sent me one, I'd be over the moon delighted because it would be unexpected - but I would wonder where she got my addy from ;) However, if a close friend/relation sent me one I might think it a bit of a cop out?

Like Pootle, if it was a mass mailing, then no. (Despise mass mailings with a passion!) It is hardly personal at that level.

Now, if the budget were very, very tight (and is it for many people these days) I can see the appeal to want to send one. Although the alternative would be just to give cards to those who are special as a budget cutter.

    Hmmm, difficult one

I like getting a card , and sending them, in fact by Friday they will all be sent as too often I always leave to last minute so this year Friday is my cut off day.

I have one so called friend who only sends me one if I do 1st, I tested this out past two years sent them both late and then only got one back once mine had arrived :frown:, so I think I will forget that one this year :yikes:.

In work we were able to send electronic cards and you would see the same one doing all the rounds but I thought they were good fun , but thats been stopped !!.
In work we dont give each other cards we buy chickens/goats for a family in Africa, one year we bought a cow thats how much we collected when a couple of the offices joined forces.

As a lot of you know I live in a close , its funny how over the 6/7 years of living here the amount of cards/house parties/Christmas eve drinks is getting less each year and me and my friend across the road we compare notes who she has had them off and so do I "busted" (sad I know:biggrin:) I always get more !!! which I find funny , but the thing I havnt told her I send one to every house which she does'nt :lunapic 130165696578242 5:.

Good morning everyone,We just love sending and receiving Christmas cards, email,s,ecards, envelopes with not enough postage on,smoke signals, carrier pigeons, phone calls,Texts, ;) ,as most of our relations are usually on the move, they come from all over, and we send them to the local post office(if there is one)if not I have to revert to telepathy :heehee: just as long as friends and family have thought about us for a few seconds that suits us nicely,:)we have quite a gathering every Christmas Day,but never know who will turn up,that's half the fun:)

Have not sent the traditional pile of Christmas cards in years and years. I may send one or two and that is it.
Although this year, thought of it, and have one of those "dumb" catch-up newsletters in them, like if the folks receiving it would really care they call as ask how are you doing.
My merriment would be drive it down to the next town over to send from there so I can have that town stamp on it, "Intercourse, PA.
But, bottom line. Just the one or two will go out this year. I will facebook cheer to all.
And also try to meet up with folks for a lunch together that I have not seen in a while.
Really have not an issue with the email card, they are cute.

heh, heh, it's not that they don't care about you, Spruce, it's probably more that they don't send many cards, then they get embarrassed when they get yours and think, we'd better get one in the post quick! The tactful thing to do would be to not send a card but stay friends! Don't take it personally.

Excellent idea, wish we'd do that at my workplace.

Don't tell her! Maybe you're more popular but then maybe it's because you send more cards and people are trying to be polite. Why don't you all scrap the cards and get together over a bottle of mulled wine instead?

Thanks for saving me a lot of typing! :blue thumb: My list isn't quite as long as yours.

If it wasn't the wrong time of year I could drop them in at Appleby when I'm there each year. :)

We stopped sending cards about 15 years ago and give to charity instead. We used to receive about 300 and send 200. Now it's down to a couple of dozen in the list above. :dancy:

But is it a "thought" if your phone is doing it automatically ??
I have never, all my life, received many Birthday cards, 26th December, so the ones I do get mean all the more to me, as somebody has "thought" of me.
I only send Christmas cards to close family and friends, gone are the days of even the slightest acquaintance.

nowadays most of our existence runs online, well, in broad terms, so I do not see anything so strange in sending postcards that way, if we communicate that way.
But, I must confess, if an 80 years old aunt starts all of a sudden to write postcards online, it would worry me a little.....

I still send about 45 cards, which I design and print myself. Mostly they are sent to "older" relatives who like to put them on the mantelpiece. And the majority are sent to the U.K, so costs quite a bit!
I think any "greeting" sent automatically is in rather poor taste. A bit like all those jokes you've seen a thousand times, that do the round robin and end up in the junk mail folder. If I get an on-line card then I know someone forgot to send a proper card so had to resort to the web.

All family and friends have had their cards written out, as I prefer to use the good old snail mail. Not into this emailing Christmas cards. They do not have the same impact as getting something through the door, especially if it is for the little ones as they never seem to get any post apart from Birthdays. Makes it more special for them too.:hapydancsmil:

Yes, and I'd prefer to get a real card with "Sorry it's a bit late" written on rather than an e card.
