We could use the Lottery Money:whistle:

how we’re able to raise, on average, over £34 million a week for National Lottery projects. So far, that’s amounted to a whopping £33 billion

From total ticket sales of £7,277.8 million in the year ending 31 March 2015:

    • £1,796.8 million was raised for National Lottery projects
    • £3,915.3 million was paid to players in prizes
    • £873.3 million went to the Government in Lottery Duty:phew:
    • £333.3 million was earned by retailers in commission:phew:

Yeah, got one of those down my road, god knows how many are living in a three bedroom house, the place is a tip, they park their cars in very strange places also.
Personally I dont think they should be driving on British roads.

I didn't realise the reason for our lack of housing in this country is down to our own strange quaint custom of wanting our own bit of roof.;)
At one time we were considered to be a fairly affluent country, but maybe in the future we need to follow the example set to us by the third world.

Agreed, they should have to go through our driving test. I'm enjoying motorway driving less and less. But then, to be fair, much of that is down to the general standards of driving from a good many of a certain generation

Hi @"M" from what I have experienced this morning there's an awful lot of the indigenous population what shouldn't be driving on our roads:whistle:

You obviously mean the younger generation :blue thumb: and not us oldies :old:

In 2012 (last year they have complete records - Library of the House of Commons) "the road deaths and serious injuries of drivers in the UK was 2,046 for the age group 17 - 29 and 807 for the age group 70 and upwards. 544 for 60 - 69."

"The United Kingdom compares extremely favourably with other countries in terms of the number of road deaths per million of population; in 2012, the UK had a lower death rate than all EU member states except Malta. The death rate in the United States was around 4 times higher than that in the UK."

Problem derives originally from the Thatcher era - the right to buy. Tenants of Council houses were offered the chance to buy their homes at a massive discount and become home owners. Which in turn reduced the available housing stock.

Council's could not use the receipts from sales to build new Council houses.

I heard that the right to buy is being withdrawn.

Council housing stock in many parts of the country have been transferred to housing associations who are 'free' of central government restrictions - they can take out loans to spend on maintaining the housing stock - something which Council's can no longer afford.

We just don't have enough public housing - we haven't for some time - the waiting lists are enormous and getting longer with our open borders.
