If you are anything like me John your wife is long suffering ... I take a couple of thousand pictures every time we go to a garden, sounds like you do to?!, and my good wife has the patience of Job! ... although she moans a bit when I get the big reel tape measure out and a notebook to take measurements in order to be able to try to reproduce the perspective of some feature I have taken a shine to !!!

Fantastic. Truly stunning. I love rhododendrons at this time of year.

I don't take quite as many as that Kristen :loll:
I normally take close up's of the labels especially for plants I think I'd like to have a go at growing. I didn't bother at Exbury becuase there are hundreds if not thousands of different plants and also I've got alkaline soil so none of their lovely Pieris, Azaleas and Rhodos would grow in my garden.
Never felt the urge to whip out my tape measure though :)

Went there about 6 years ago with my husband and were fortunate enough to see a Nerines exhibition. I remember they sparkled like jewels.

Me to! I photograph plant first, then label (least I get confused when I get home and match up a label with the wrong plant photo!)

A bonus of digital photography - in olden times it would have been too esxpensive to "waste" a photo to just record the plant's label.

When I download them I keep the incrementing number IMG1234 filename (to retain chronological order) and append to it the name of the plant etc. so if I copy the file, or upload it here, it still has the ID number and the name parts embedded in its filename.

          Down Boy :heehee:

Q: Why can't women park cars? A: Because men are always telling them that this > < is six inches !

What has Women parking* and 6 inches got to do with Exbury gardens, might I ask?

I could park the old Land Rover Discovery with my eyes shut but, even with parking sensors, I loathe parking the Ford Focus CC3-D.
You are wading into dangerous waters* Kristen,
            Jenny

I don't know how I missed this thread, John. The place, flowers (and your photos) are simply stunning ... what colour!

I really do miss gardens like that here so thank you very much for sharing your visit. :)

John "whipping his tape measure out"

The point of that joke is meant to be that it pokes fun at both sexes ... but I apologise if it offended you.
