I shall add to this list through the year...........
Datura metel (need sowing soon for late July/August blooms and viable seeds before the frosts)
    Digitalis lanata
(Pictures for the two above are on page one of the thread)
Impatiens balfourii (need sowing soon, as they need a few weeks in the fridge)
    Lathyrus sativus azureus
Eccromocarpus scaber (not exotic, but a nice hardy climber that is easy)
    Leonotis nepetifolia
    Iochroma australis
Cassia bicapsularis (very limited number - enough for one person really)
Aserina scandens - fast growing annual climber (also works in hanging baskets)
NEW Nerium oleander - Received from a member on another forum, but guaranteed.
    NEW Nicotiana sylvestris

A tropical veggie. Wasn't sure where to put this.

I've got seeds from my own plant of "peruvian purple" chilli.

The plants have purple tinted leaves, the chillis are almost black but ripen to red.
Not a particularly large chilli, and as I dont eat large amounts they appear very hot to me.
PM me if you would like a few seeds

I'm wondering if I got mixed up ... but the Thai Canna seeds I got from Sal (thanks very much :) ) look the same as the Canna Limbata I have grown - either that, or I have mislabelled the ones that Sal sent me, and they haven't flowered yet!

I have been looking for seed on my exotics and found essentially nothing. I don't know whether this is due to
        a) such a cold summer
        b) some exotics will never seed in the UK
        c) or should have gone to Specsavers :old:

Anyway I have fired up my lightbox today and taken some cuttings of :-
        various Brugmansia
        Iochroma coccinea
        Iochroma "Plum Paradise"
        Iochrome "Violet Churchu"
        Iochrome "Trebah"
        Duranta repens and
        Streptosolen jamesonii

I would have taken some more but the box is now more than full. I have never taken cuttings of these before, except Brugmansia, so I have no idea if I will have any success. But I hope later on to be able to offer some cuttings on this thread, as I suspect that some plants may not produce seed.

I am researching how to take cuttings of some others - but still have a space problem.

I think is the time of the year to make few cutting , start a new tropical swap cutting and do the same as we did for the seeds.

I have already taken cuttings of Coleus and Iresine to over winter (and also some Sambucus Black Lace, which I have struggled to get to strike before, but the ones taken a couple of weeks ago look to be doing well ... so far ...)

Took some cuttings of my Red Salvia, about to take some of the Blue ones.

Contemplating digging up my Ginger (greenii) and bringing it in so that it forms Bulblettes (on the leaf joints) over the winter (or that a daft idea? I got two good plants from last year's bulblettes, but it was a new purchase last Autumn and I kept it in a pot for the Winter)

Quick question regards to Brug cuttings; I've read a lot on the internet about rooting the cuttings in water first rather than following the normal cutting procedure, how do you guys do yours?, as this is the first year I've grown them I want to take a few cuttings but what's the best way?, thanks :)

Sal - with respect to Brug cuttings, I think you can do either. However what the cuttings in water do is to produce white bumps (nodules). Once these have formed you need to pot the cutting up in the normal way. I don't think you can get actual roots to grow in water in the same way that they do with Bussy Lizzies.

Alternatively, you can just pot them up from the start. I have done a few by each method.

I hope JWK and the administrator will not mind If I start the thread ,we know that there is a page dedicated to echange but it`s easy if we keep in tropical, even if I didn`t had time to have a proper look and see what I got .

Go ahead Sal :blue thumb: It's best to start another thread with a better title for cuttings.
