I'm going to plant some poncy ones along the edge of my pretentiously named "woodland walk", and bog standard singles and somewhat fewer doubles behind them, and then the taller white look-alikes, that also flower in early Spring (forgotten then name, most of that species flower in Summer instead) at the back for more height.

That way I figure we will pick the ones next to the path, for the house, and they will be the taller, best looking, ones - mirrors the story of my youth, except the snowdrops won't have any choice in whether I pick them or not !

We had a walk around the RHS garden at Wisley this afternoon and it's the first time I've had a proper look at all the different sorts of snowdrops, I hadn't appreciated the subtle differences and there are so many different varieities.

There is someone I know on another forum who specialises in Snowdrops but I don't think even he would spend such a 'rip off' amount for a bulb. Complete madness in my opinion unless you have them growing in a 'bubble' and keep the outside world ... out ... and then you can rip the rest of the world off ...

Well done whoever you are, I applaud you ... :love30:

Why are you applauding them if you think its a rip off?

Its just supply and demand, surely? If someone wants to pay that much then that's fine by me! For myself I'll wait until they have been mass-propagated and are available for a price that I am happy to pay.
