I cant talk as when i reversed in a multi storey carpark when my ticket had expired and went bashing into the wall and ended up with a massive bill of over £2.000 and my last accident has cost our insurance to go up drastically from £200 a year to £800, certainly have kept out of multi storey car parks since

It is easier to reverse in than reverse out. I always reverse in and wind my window down first (aren't electric windows grand) and am looking between the back window and down the side, and using both mirrors. It means I can squeeze in the closest space and have done it with big wide (4 seats across) long wheelbase minibuses with no effective rear vision. When you reverse in you have all the space in the world to let the front swing round behind you, so you can do a tight turn. With car parks with narrow aisles you have to swing the front round if you reverse out. If you have car with a longish wheel base (mines an astra estate) you have very little room to swing the front round and end up reversing back and forwards, or clip somebody's wing.
Also if going to the cinema, theatre, football match when everyone comes out together always reverse in. No one will ever let you reverse out, but you can easily sneak out forwards!
Funny thing is somebody was complaining in the local paper about people reversing into spaces because he reckoned they never parked in the middle of the space. Not me, because of my technique I find I can park the car in the exact spot. At work I have to reverse around two colleagues' cars who never even attempt the space and then swing round to slot it between the last car and some bushes. Mind you at home I have to practise reversing my camping/garden rubbish/plant sales trailer. That involves a corner and then a steep drive. The caravan is a piece of cake by comparison.

I have just read the post about Rosa's accident. Some year's ago when the kids were little we had bikes inverted on the roof and bikes hanging on the back. Somehow we ended up in a multi storey in Plymouth - not intentionally but the missus was driving!
So I was somewhat nervously watching the ceilings and then yelled when I saw a sloping ceiling. Sue slammed on the brakes and I got out. No damage but i had to deflate the bike tyres before she could reverse out. The attendants must have thought it strange - there were skid marks across the ceiling - I bet they thought they had some trick cyclists in!
