@Beckie76 tried to hide behind hers as she arrived, but revealed herself quite quickly; very nice of her to let us see her bush.

 

I can certify that is not the case @KFF - and I can also certify that you could not meet two people that have hearts as big as Mr & Mrs Shiney; they are, without doubt, the warmest, friendliest, kindest and most giving people I can think of.

Indeed, I would even go further to say that ALL the GC members I had the pleasure to meet at Shineyland were the absolute epitome of this forum and gardeners as a whole - kind, good natured and friendly; and yeah, there were a lot of giggles to be had too.

If you can make it next year, even if it is a bit of trek from where you are, it really is worth it - besides, it would be lovely to meet you and put a face to the name.

 

@Irmemac - In all honesty, shineyland is a weekend when Mr & Mrs Shiney open their garden to visitors to raise money for charity; not only do they sell plants of various types, but there are also other goods on sale, entertainment and refreshments are available, and friendship & company are available by the bucketload. Mr Shiney does guided tours, with detailed back stories of how he transformed his (sizeable) garden, and there are also raffles, and other things (books etc) for sale.

For me, it was an opportunity to meet with fellow GC members, and a very enjoyable day exploring and learning. Mr & Mrs Shiney are the perfect hosts in my book, and I would count myself as deeply honoured if I were able to consider them as friends - finer people, you will not find.
