Looks like we've slipped back to NUMBER 5 :(

but only 58 more members needed to reach 3000!

    Jjordie,

I am not worried, have a closer look at the top 20, all have a commercial element (meaning they are advertising extensively to generate hits), whereas GC is 'only' a forum, and not commercial.

There are other forums on the list, but they are part of a larger site that is commercially based. [IMG]

I am more happy that entering gardeners corner or gardenerscorner on Google, and we are No 1 [IMG]

The figures are pretty meaningless and I've experienced other websites that have chased numbers and come to grief by losing their aim and focus. We may have 3,000 registered members but only about 30 ever contribute. That is 1%. So where are the other 99%?

That is pretty common on other forum type websites too - people join and then vanish. Quality is so much more important than quantity and GC is never likely to atract advertising revenue. Personally I don't think it matters if GC is N0.5 or No.50. What we do do - we do do well :D People will come to GC and if they like us they will stay, but just imagine a forum with 3000 active contributors!! Daily traffic and the Google rating is the one that counts [IMG]

To be honest, I think this is a riduculous convesation and why anybody is bothering to speak about it if they have no idea what it's all about, is a complete mystery to me.

Whatever - its a nice friendly garden forum, that has been very active since its inception in December 2005. The numbers visiting each day are healthy - and its doing well.

Thats enough for me - well done Nathan and all the members, contributing or not.

Is the Web-ring thing new, or have I just not noticed it? I clicked on it just now and saw that GC is in there as the number one gardening forum! Nice one, Nathan - is that what you were referring to as being number one with Google?
